The paper explains how present-day regional policy in backward regions in the European Union is implementedthrough the Communitarian Support Framework (CSF) 2000-2006. During its first triennium, it has proveditself a strong financial injection for the fulfilling of the basic strategic targets for the Spanish regions fallingwithin Objective 1 of European regional policy. In particular, the explicit attention to the scope ofinfrastructures in the mentioned CSF has had an outstanding influence on policies having to do with theendowment of social and transport infrastructures in these areas of Spain. From the observation andcomparison of the evolution of infrastructures, and the boost here undergone in the period relevant andpertinent conclusions as tot the results of the Community's regional policy on infrastructures of territoriesObjective 1 can be drawn. ; La actual política regional de la Unión Europea en los territorios más retrasados se lleva acabo básicamente a través del Marco Comunitario de Apoyo (MCA) 2000-2006. Durante su primer trienioha significado una importante inyección financiera para el cumplimiento de los objetivos estratégicos fundamentalesde las regiones españolas incluidas en el Objetivo 1 de la política regional europea. En concreto,la atención explícita al ámbito de las infraestructuras en el citado MCA ha propiciado que buena partede las medidas articuladas en dicha estrategia hayan ejercido una destacada influencia sobre las dotacionesde infraestructuras sociales y de transporte de las regiones españolas implicadas. A partir de la observaciónde la evolución de las dotaciones de infraestructuras en el contexto de las ayudas europeas, y de suimpulso relativo en el período, es posible extraer conclusiones relevantes acerca de la incidencia de la políticaregional comunitaria sobre las infraestructuras de los territorios Objetivo 1.
