Ausgehend von der Marx-Rezeption der zweiten Hälfte der 60er Jahre, in der Millsüberlegungen zur Sicherung individueller Freiheit vergessen waren, wird in dem Beitrag untersucht, ob und wo Übereinstimmungen zwischen Marx und Mill zu finden sind und welcher Zusammenhang mit Individuum, Staat und Planung besteht. Es wird herausgearbeitet, daß die Freiheit des Individuums im Hinblick auf jedes System neu thematisiert werden muß. Als Problem des Sozialismus wird die fehlende Freiheit herausgearbeitet, die durch die mangelnde Produktivkraftentfaltung bedingt ist. Das Problem des heutigen Kapitalismus wird in den sich reduzierenden Freiheitsspielräumen gesehen, die allerdings durch enorme Entfaltung der Produktivkräfte bedingt sind. Dabei wird festgestellt, daß die technologische Entwicklung im Kapitalismus nicht nur zu einem Funktionsverlust der Arbeiterklasse und ihrer Organisationen führt, sondern allgemein zu einer Reduktion von Subjektivetät. Es wird gezeigt, daß sich als Substitut ein duales gesellschaftliches System entwickelt, daß Freiheit neu definiert. Freiheit wird demnach verstanden als das, was sich gegen die verallgemeinerte Logik der Effektivität Gefühle, Körperlichkeit, Sinnlichkeit, Weiblichkeit und Religiösität erkämpft. (RW)
