The article deals with issues related to the national and international security of the CIS (ang. Commonwealth of Independent States) countries. This article evaluates the CSTO (Eng. Collective Security Treaty Organization) as a regional collective security organization. By its legal nature, the CSTO is an intergovernmental international organization whose members and founders are exclusively states. The catalog of tasks and threats faced by the organization is constantly updated during the summits of the CSTO leaders. The aim of the collective security system of the CSTO states is to secure peaceful conditions for the continued development of states by preventing or eliminating various types of threats to peace, including war conflicts and joint defense against an attack one or more CSTO states. There are opportunities for the CSTO to become a better performing organization that will contribute to the emergence of a new security architecture in Eurasia. Currently, the role of regional security systems is objectively growing. The CSTO declares itself as a multifunctional international organization of a new type in the field of security. Its members are trying to combine in one structure the tasks of counteracting traditional threats, such as repelling military aggression against one of the CSTO members and new challenges (combating drug trafficking, illegal migration, terrorism, etc.). Cooperation within the organization mainly boils down to carrying out joint maneuvers and training, information exchange of Russian military equipment. Especially the latter element is an important reason for the membership of some states in the CSTO. An important element of the CSTO is the military aspect. The military potential consists of the forces of the member states in line with economic possibilities. Obviously, Russia has the greatest contribution to building this potential. The Eurasian Economic Union is an international organization of regional economic integration with international legal status. The Eurasian Economic Union is a novelty among regional integration organizations. It has been functioning as a customs union since 2010 and as an economic union since 2015. The institutional structure of the Eurasian Economic Union formed as the result of its evolution from previously functioning integration agreements. The changes in the forms of integration within the Eurasian Economic Community, Customs Union, Economic Space Community, Eurasian Economic Union forced the evolution of the group's organs. The Union's scope of activities covered relatively numerous economic areas, the Eurasian Union, in accordance with art. 3 of the EAUG Treaty, operates only within the competences delegated to it by the Member States. The EEU member countries are very diverse in terms of size, natural conditions, level of economic development, legal and economic system, economic links with Third World countries. On the other hand, the Eurasian Economic Union, which should be noted, has competences only in the sphere of the common market and customs union. These competences are currently largely limited by intertemporal regulations. Moreover, the creation of the EEU strengthens the current system of dependence economic and only slightly opens up the possibility of integration among other sites. Therefore, the Eurasian Economic Union has sought to base its model on the European Union. All institutions carry out their work in compliance with the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) and the international agreements that provide the legal and regulatory framework of the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space. As the result the Eurasian Economic Union due to the fact that it exists on the international arena much shorter than the European Union, remains a less advanced entity in the sphere of customs union and the common market.

The concept of sovereignty is not defined by international law. It does not stand alone in the United Nations Charter but as sovereign equality. This is reflected in the principle of sovereign equality proclaimed by the Charter. In legal terms, all countries are equal and in this sense sovereign. This approach distinguishes the legal concept of sovereignty from political or economic concepts which refer to the realities of the balance of power. In international law, sovereignty is synonymous with international and legal subjectivity. The subjects of international law are sovereign states primarily. States have the ability to be the subject of international law and obligations through the independent execution of state competences. Sovereignty also means the transfer of own powers to international organizations resulting from our own will. Sovereignty cannot justify violations of international law by states. However, states sometimes try to invoke their sovereignty to justify violations of international law. In the international aspect, the restriction of the freedom decision of the states results from: the subordination of states to generally recognized principles of international law, from the provisions of international agreements to which a given country is a party, from the resolutions of international organizations to which a given country belongs, if in the light of the organization's statutes they are law-making. There is no doubt that the concept of sovereignty is an important subject of research in the humanities and social sciences.
