Report related to a proposed canal from Baltimore to the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal. Includes statement from James P. Kirkwood, engineer, regarding surveys of the Maryland canal. Includes a second report, entitled "Report to Colonel J.J. Abert, descriptive of surveys made in the summer of 1838, in relation to the route of the Maryland canal," signed by Thos. J.
