The principle of R2P – "Responsibility to Protect" – is intended to successfully counteract the international community's powerlessness and failure to act in the face of crises and humanitarian catastrophes. It commits the international community to intervene in cases of genocide and crimes against humanity – in extreme cases even against the will of the state concerned. Originally established in peacekeeping, R2P, in certain ways a Canadian "invention", also involves other areas of operation such as diplomacy, literature, and the media. The 19 articles assembled in this volume, which discuss the concept and the history of ist realization, contain both general reflections on a new understanding of state sovereignty and case studies dealing with particularly explosive political situations (Sudan, Afghanistan). Furthermore, beyond the responsibility of the political and diplomatic instances, the texts examine that of the media as sources of information, and the role of literature which – far beyond mere documentary writing – develops its own strategies and scenarios of how conflicts can be solved. - La "responsabilité de protéger" (R2P) est la tentative de combattre l'impuissance et la passivité de la communauté internationale en cas de crises et de catastrophes humanitaires, c'est-à-dire d'intervenir en cas de génocide et de crime contre l'humanité, et dans le pire des cas, d'intervenir même contre la volonté de l'État concerné. Se référant à l'origine au "Peacekeeping", le projet R2P qui s'est développé avec l'importante participation du Canada, met également à contribution d'autres secteurs comme la diplomatie, les médias et la littérature. Les 19 contributions de ce volume qui éclairent le concept et l'histoire de sa réalisation comprennent aussi bien des prises de position pour une nouvelle conception de la souveraineté que des études de cas sur des situations politiques explosives (Soudan, Afghanistan). De plus, au-delà de la responsabilité manifeste des instances politiques et diplomatiques, les textes rassemblés abordent la responsabilité des médias en tant que sources d'information, et l'apport de la littérature qui, bien au-delà d'une écriture "documentaire", propose des stratégies et des scénarios pour résoudre des conflits.

L'écriture de Nancy Huston se situe à l'intersection de plusieurs courants. Huston écrit à un moment où la littérature française redécouvre l'histoire et cultive la mémoire; à un moment où elle prend ses distances par rapport aux excès de la théorie du signe, et à un moment aussi où les « voix venues d'ailleurs » réclament le genre du roman et la langue française pour mettre en scène leur vision du monde et de l'histoire. Après un survol du vaste champ de réflexion portant sur l'histoire et la mémoire (A. et J. Assmann, H. Bhabha, P. Nora, R. Robin, M. Rothberg), L'empreinte de l'ange sert à illustrer une écriture de l'histoire et de la mémoire inquiète et hésitante, visant à reconstituer des expériences partielles et à « comprendre ce qui s'est passé ».

How can the rich panorama of French songs which scholars tend to identify as 'songs of migration' be characterized? The chanson politique, the chanson engagée, and the chanson de la migration – all three of them make statements about society but the latter is specific in its themes: It focuses on the individual and/or the collective experience of forced displacement and migration, which have been the lot of thousands and thousands of people in the past three decades. In the first part of this article, the history of French immigration is outlined in order to contextualise the 60 songs chosen for analysis. After briefly highlighting the complexity and plurimediality of the artistic form of the chanson, the second part concentrates on the themes addressed and on the narrative perspective; it ends with Louis Calvet who stated as early as 1976 that a chanson can be political for three reasons: the author's intentionality, the topics dealt with, and the way in which the contemporary society 'lives' the respective songs.

For most people, the terms "Acadiens", "Cadiens", and "Cajuns" are interchangeable words supposed to describe the same identities with regional variations depending on the Acadian or Louisiana context. The papers presented in this volume shed a new light on these identities by reinterpreting history, politics, language, literature, and popular culture in the light of current scholarly schemes. - Les termes "Acadiens", "Cadiens", and "Cajuns" sont interchangeables pour la plupart des gens et renvoient à une seule et même identité avec des variantes régionales dépendant du contexte acadien ou louisianais. Les essais rassemblés dans ce volume remettent en cause ce mythe en revendiquant une compréhension plus sophistiquée de l'histoire, de la politique, de la langue, de la littérature et de la culture populaire de ces minorités francophones en Amérique du Nord.

Der Band dokumentiert mit seinen Beiträgen eine Konferenz über "Regionalism(s)", die im November 2013 in Innsbruck stattfand und gemeinsam von den Länderzentren der Universität Innsbruck organisiert wurde. Wie schon der Titel besagt, bietet er eine Vielfalt an Perspektiven zu diesem Thema, sowohl in Bezug auf die unterschiedlichen wissenschaftlichen Zugänge (juristisch, politisch, soziologisch, kulturell, geographisch, historisch) als auch in ihrem Fokus auf verschiedene europäische und amerikanische Regionen. Die Autorinnen stehen nicht nur für diese unterschiedlichen Disziplinen, sondern auch für die verschiedenen Traditionen und Konventionen ihres Heimatlandes, und eröffnen somit einen faszinierenden Blick auf das hochaktuelle Thema "Region".
