The globalisation of the Judicial Power – context and challenges
Judicial Independence today is facing, particularly in Europe, new threats emerging from populist political regimens. After a structural analysis of the main constraints to the upholding of an independent judiciary, some indications are listed, in a very brief note, to better affirm, at the level of the judiciary, the values of Democracy and Rule of Law, assuming an "ethics of practical responsibility".

The making of Portuguese Human Resources Management (1959–1986): regime change and the prevalence of normative discourse
The development of Human Resources Management in Portugal reveals how national features may prevent or postpone the adoption of mainstream management models. Based on an analysis of the magazines Indústria Portuguesa, edited by the Portuguese Industrial Association, and Pessoal, by the Association of Portuguese Human Resources Technicians and Managers, this paper aims to understand how political events in the period between 1959 and 1986 came to shape a very distinctive configuration of management discourses. Contrary to what happened in more developed countries, the political effort to modernize productive structures, from the end of the 1950s, and the onset of the revolutionary process in 1974, in the wake of the fall of the authoritarian regime, determined the pervasiveness of normative concepts. Only in the mid-1980s, faced with a new political scenario and against the backdrop of a new shape of the labor movement, would Portuguese management lay emphasis on rational procedures.

Pluralismo jurídico e destruição criativa ; Legal pluralism and creative destruction
Commencing with an ironic parallel with some concepts of economic sciences, the author calls for an active solidarity of all jurists to safeguard a plural Europe, affected by a severe crisis. Firmly based on the thoughts of the honouree Cunha Rodrigues, the crucial importance of a homogeneous and trustworthy European Judiciary is also emphasized, in order to strengthen advances already provided by European Union Law, especially through the creative and innovative case law from the Court of Justice of the European Union.

This article intends to understand the degree in which expectations about the modern mathematics reform were fulfilled. Focusing on the Portuguese case, we probed four quantitative studies developed by governmental institutions at the time of the reform, usually intended to evaluate its implementation at several grade levels. Re-appreciated in modern times, these studies provided us with insights about the reform. More specifically, following Gimeno's distinction among several curricular levels, the contemporary inspection of those studies allowed us to have an insight of the curriculum presented to teachers, the curriculum modelled by them, and the attained curriculum at the time of the reform.
