Evolution and Multidimensional Reflections of Malaysia's Look East Policy is the result of nearly a year of hard work by 22 scholars from various fields of specialisation and countries. What makes this book interesting? First, the publication coincides with the 40th anniversary of Malaysia's Look East Policy, the most significant policy introduced by the Malaysian government since 1981. This book examines the policy from its inception to the present day. Second, it addresses multiple dimensions, including international relations, education, political economy, and socio-cultural perspectives. Readers will gain knowledge, broaden their perspectives, and gain a new perspective on the Look East Policy. Third, the readers will be able to make comparisons throughout the chapters between old and new perspectives of the Look East Policy, between the policies introduced in South Korea and Japan, the prospect of China as a model of development for Malaysia's Look East Policy, and India and Malaysia's relations with Japan through the Look East Policy and the Act East Policy. Overall, this book is suitable for students, policymakers, researchers, and general audience interested in the Look East Policy.

Since the 1950s, Japanese non-state actors in the international anti-nuclear
weapons movement have disseminated the dangers of nuclear weapons, tied to
Japanese experiences of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in
1945. Coming from the only country that has experienced nuclear attacks, they
provide much needed evidence of the humanitarian impacts of nuclear weapons.
These actors include survivors of the atomic bombings, commonly known as
hibakusha, who have initiated and persistently maintained the humanitarian
focus on nuclear discourse for decades. This paper examines their contributions
to eyewitness testimonies on the impacts of nuclear weapons and their efforts
leading to major milestones in international efforts for nuclear abolition. It also
focuses on the roles played by the Japan Confederation of A- and H-Bomb Sufferers
Organization (Nihon Hidankyo) and the Japan Association of Lawyers Against
Nuclear Arms (JALANA), which made tremendous contributions facilitating the
success of the World Court Project in the 1990s and the Humanitarian Initiative
in the 2010s that led to the 2017 Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
Non-state Japanese contributions were, unfortunately, under-recognised, and
the successes of international nuclear abolition were often attributed to other
international actors. Hence, this paper recognises the contributions of non-state
Japanese actors in sustaining the international anti-nuclear weapons movement
and achieving the nuclear ban treaty.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the interdependence of the manufacturing industry between South South Korea and ASEAN-5 countries. To conduct an international analysis for the manufacturing industries, an interregional input-output (IRIO) model is applied. The Asian International Input-Output Table (AIIO) provided by IDE-JETRO (2017) is employed and the spillover effects of manufacturing industry are compared in terms of inducement production, value added and backward/forward linkages. The results indicate that the production inducement outcome between Malaysia and South Korea and the effect of forward and backward linkage industry are high, and the dependence on industry is high. On the other hand, in terms of decomposition of value added exports to ASEAN from South South Korea in the manufacturing sector; Vietnam, Singapore, and Indonesia are the states where South South Korea's domestic value-added exports are high. The result shows that South South Korea is necessary to diversify economic cooperation between East Asian and ASEAN member states.
