"This book is about narratives about interactions between police officers and domestic violence victim/survivors. Using theories of indexicality, identity, and narrative, I show how police officers conceive of victim/survivors and vice versa, as those(mis)conceptions are represented in narrative. I also analyze the ways in which identity emerges in and is performed via narrative constructions of domestic violence and encounters between police and victim/survivors. I argue that Identity emerges in an "indexical field" (Eckert) made up of different elements, each of which mean differently depending on the identity emerging in the field and the person telling the story. Thus, what domestic violence means and even what it looks like is different for victim/survivors than it is for police officers. Identity also emerges in storytelling when the storyteller constructs identities for characters in the story world that are then positioned against by the storyteller in the process of telling the story. Through the indexical and identity analysis of narrative, one issue that I address is the dismissal of emotional violence from the indexical field of domestic violence in police discourse. I argue that we need more resources to account for issues of emotional abuse in police responses to domestic violence"--

Language ideologies that are circulated in the Anglo-American law of evidence create the potential to speak for, appropriate, and ignore the speech of women who have been victims of domestic violence. This research shows the ways in which a language ideology circulated in the Anglo-American law of evidence draws on and creates indexical links to social discourses, affecting speakers whose utterances are used as evidence in legal contexts. The book examines linguistic strategies and analyzes assumptions about language in the legal text and talk used to evaluate spoken evidence

This thesis project argues that war has been the greatest catalyst for the American comic book medium to become a socio-political change agent within western society. Comic books have become one of the most pervasive influences to global popular culture, with superheroes dominating nearly every popular art form. Yet, the academic world has often ignored the comic book medium as a niche market instead of integrated into the broader discussions on cultural production and conflict studies. This paper intends to bridge the gap between what has been classified as comic book studies and the greater academic world to demonstrate the reciprocal relationship between was representation in comics, society, and war. This thesis outlines how the relationship between war and comics have been baked into the dawn of the modern American comic book during the interwar period and how that relationship has evolved over time to today.

Abstract
Victim/survivors of domestic violence are asked to tell their stories many times, in different contexts, and for
different audiences. These stories are contextualized for the new context and audience at the same time that they become texts –
entextualization – in that context. This article argues that narrative is produced via the co-processes of entextualization and
contextualization (Silverstein & Urban, 1996). The co-processes of
entextualization/contextualization in domestic violence narratives about staying and leaving violent relationships produce stories
that comport with the status quo, as it is envisioned in the stories of the victim/survivors. Using staying/leaving stories of
domestic violence victim/survivors, I show that entextualizations/contextualizations are (1) socioculturally saturated processes
and (2) rhetorical arguments. I argue that narratives entextualize/contextualize events of domestic violence in ways that involve
and comply with the status quo. Ultimately, these processes create discursive resources that reinforce domestic violence.

Transfer pricing was first legislated by the US Tax Code. An unbiased assessment of the terms of the transaction of the interrelated participants was embodied in the concept of «extended hand». Different mechanisms of transfer pricing control operate in developed countries. Transfer pricing became relevant in Ukraine with the development of financial and industrial groups. The difference in the tax burden of different countries and the redirection of the total income for taxation to countries with lower taxes or tax avoidance altogether allows international companies to significantly reduce their tax burden. Such a simple and widespread scheme for reducing tax burden requires special attention from any state. Control over transfer pricing in Ukraine was launched in 2013. The principle of «extended hand», the criteria for mutual «connection of persons», the content of controlled operations were reflected in the Tax Code of Ukraine in 2015. The systematization of the regulatory framework for transfer pricing in Ukraine has been carried out in accordance with international standards and Recommendations of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) for multinational corporations and tax services. The controlled volume of business operations now exceeds UAH 10 million. Evading large taxpayers of income tax from paying in preferential tax regimes or reducing its rates by five percent and more than in Ukraine is now controlled by the fiscal service. Large taxpayers can enter into an agreement with the fiscal service of Ukraine for the transparent formation of transfer prices and the conduct of tax operations in the territories of preferential tax regimes.
