Cambio climático y energía, una relación desdibujada en la prensa española ; Climate change and energy, a blurred relationship in the Spanish press
Production and energy consumption mainly based on fossil fuels account for two thirds of global emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs). Therefore, measures aimed at decarbonising the energy sector are key in the fight against climate change. Given this reality, it could be assumed that climate change is one of the main issues regarding the energy issue. However, after analysis of 1,962 news items related to energy published between 2008 and 2012 in seven Spanish national newspapers, only 153 were related to climate change, ie, only 8 percent of the total. Untying the phenomenon of climate change with the deceased sector two-thirds of emissions of greenhouse gases globally merely dematerialize the problem and hinder the action of citizens, not only in terms of changing habits or behaviors relation to consumption, but above all, in terms of increasing the level of demand political representatives.

Las ciudades santuario como una estrategia para situarse en el mundo : los casos de Valencia y Zaragoza (España) ; Sanctuary cities as a strategy for positioning themselves in the world : the cases of Valencia and Zaragoza (Spain)
; This study seeks to define and compare the actions proposed by the local councils of Valencia and Zaragoza, two Spanish cities nominated as 'refuge city'. The analysis period for this case study starts from 2015, a key year in the refugee crisis in the Mediterranean, and in which both cities experienced a political change following the municipal elections. From that year, the city councils have included budgetary items for refugee aid. In addition, they make institutional statements, perform awareness campaigns, collaborate with NGOs, integrate in networks of municipalities in solidarity with refugees and participate in international meetings and conferences. However, analysis of the results suggests that these initiatives are dependent on political party strategies rather than a true sense of the city. Despite assuming an effective tactic to position cities in the world by using an autonomous discourse, its implementation is subject to local political dynamics, which renders the proposals fragile.

The media discourse on nuclear power is essential for understanding how public opinion is formed on such a highly technical-scientific issue. This research focuses on analysing the role of scientists as claimants in the debate on nuclear power, through their presence in the press as a source of information. Following analysis, a total of 234 articles have been published in the Spanish newspapers El País and ABC during the three months prior to and the three months following the nuclear accident in Japan. The results indicate that scientists, as actors claimants, are relegated behind politicians, citizens, industry and ecologists. However, their prominence is decisive in the news setting: clearly emphasising the environmental risk and downplaying the financial benefit, as opposed to the case of the politicians.
