The literature on organised crime usually presents it as transnational: this is what the author discusses. No criminal organisation canmanage without the cooperation of people with influence locally, whether they be criminals themselves, state officials, or employees. Thearticle analyses the types of relationships between foreign criminal organisations involvedin drug trafficking and local, Brazilian criminal organisations.

Discussed here is the fact that no criminal organization can manage without the cooperation of people with influence locally, whether they be criminals themselves, state officials, or employees.
