Includes Supplementary Material ; In this current hyperconnected era, many could argue that multifaced daily news events, arranged into univocal storylines, generate effects well beyond the media environment. Empirically speaking, most explorations of media and cyberspace focus discretely on one or the other, parochially missing their potential interaction. More specifically, could negative media events, laced with dueling narratives, aimed at the United States and its interests by other countries on a given day, impact the level of cyber intrusions on U.S. networks the next day? The purpose of this study is to relate today's recorded cyber intrusions on a U.S. network to yesterday's media events using statistical regression models as the method of testing for the relationship's existence. The analysis begins with a broad investigation of all regimes, and then proceeds through specific regime types, before narrowing down to case studies of specific countries. The evidence provided from these models bears out that negative media narratives projected by other countries toward the U.S. generate measurable impacts on the level of ensuing intrusions on U.S. networks. Recent events on colleges campuses specifically and society generally suggest that a new generation of scholars will inherit the unfinished business of resolving our nation's longstanding "race problem." What can a journal do to improve their chances of producing scholarship that will lead to dismantling oppressive racial patterns and order? I argue in this manuscript that JCSCORE should provide more space to exchange and critique imaginations of new racial meanings and structures. Such forward-looking thinking that stretch beyond standardized approaches to scholarship can help coordinate and guide the application of empirical research. After all, "social change" is much more than an empirical project and ultimately requires a creative and organizing vision that inspires, invents, and sustains transformative actions.

Social entrepreneurship is a nascent concept within academia that is increasing in scholarly attention and practice, especially within the study of sport. A recent article has reviewed the concept of social entrepreneurship (SE) and sport and offered suggestions for future studies. Building on this article, I suggest that there is a need for critical, sociological explorations of sport and SE, most especially for scholars within the field of sport for development and peace (SDP). In this article, a review of SE and sport is briefly provided, as well as a presentation of recent critical perspectives on SE. Drawing attention to the connections between SDP and critical studies of SE, I suggest that there is an opportunity for sociologists of SDP to further understand the complex relations and neoliberal power structures involved in SDP social change, sustainability, innovation, and donor-recipient relations that would contribute significant insights for the future of the field.

The distributional approach for uncertainty analysis in cancer risk assessment is reviewed and extended. The method considers a combination of bioassay study results, targeted experiments, and expert judgment regarding biological mechanisms to predict a probability distribution for uncertain cancer risks. Probabilities are assigned to alternative model components, including the determination of human carcinogenicity, mode of action, the dosimetry measure for exposure, the mathematical form of the dose‐response relationship, the experimental data set(s) used to fit the relationship, and the formula used for interspecies extrapolation. Alternative software platforms for implementing the method are considered, including Bayesian belief networks (BBNs) that facilitate assignment of prior probabilities, specification of relationships among model components, and identification of all output nodes on the probability tree. The method is demonstrated using the application of Evans, Sielken, and co‐workers for predicting cancer risk from formaldehyde inhalation exposure. Uncertainty distributions are derived for maximum likelihood estimate (MLE) and 95th percentile upper confidence limit (UCL) unit cancer risk estimates, and the effects of resolving selected model uncertainties on these distributions are demonstrated, considering both perfect and partial information for these model components. A method for synthesizing the results of multiple mechanistic studies is introduced, considering the assessed sensitivities and selectivities of the studies for their targeted effects. A highly simplified example is presented illustrating assessment of genotoxicity based on studies of DNA damage response caused by naphthalene and its metabolites. The approach can provide a formal mechanism for synthesizing multiple sources of information using a transparent and replicable weight‐of‐evidence procedure.

The purpose of this research was to examine the evolution of the Acquisition Review Journal (ARJ) through its first 11 years of publication. Researchers assessed the Defense Acquisition community through a review of ARJ articles. They considered what areas academics and practitioners have explored, and how they have explored them. This review documents such characteristics as areas of study, methods of study, and contributors. Trends are identified and conclusions are drawn as to the contribution of the ARJ to the Defense Acquisition community of practice.

"It's ironic that Indian people are not allowed to be experts in themselves—it's usually someone else 'defining' the Indian" (Pewewardy, 1992, p.5). Tragically, this is an accurate representation of much of the history of Native American education. Major changes have taken place in the last thirty years to correct this tragedy and to return the education of Native Americans to Native Americans. Progress, however has been slow; years of cultural, geographic and educational genocide by Europeans and Non-Indigenous governments have been difficult to overcome. To understand the historical underpinnings of the modern Native American education movement, three general eras of Native American education—the Pre-Colonial, Colonial, and Post-Colonial Eras (Appendix A)—are discussed, and a brief historical overview of these first two eras is provided. Changes that occurred in, and injustices incurred on, Native American education during these periods are described. The main focuses of this examination, current trends in Native American education shaping the Post-Colonial Era, are examined. The relevance of these changes for cultural recuperation and tribal and individual education and learning are enumerated.
