La pauvreté aux États-Unis ne fait pas partie du débat public, mais elle n'y est pas rare. À la fin des années 2010, elle n'affectait sous toutes ses formes pas moins de 20 % de la population. Les aides sociales sont modestes, mais des recherches récentes montrent que le système de protection sociale a été relativement efficace pour réduire la pauvreté depuis la fin des années 1960. Son aggravation dans le contexte du COVID-19 appelle à des réformes structurelles pour envisager de l'éradiquer.
