Istraživanjem se nastojalo utvrditi kako su nizozemski kartografi prve polovice osamnaestoga stoljeća prikazivali Slavoniju. Premda je Nizozemska bila poznati centar kartografske produkcije, prije svega u 16. i 17. stoljeću, slabije je poznato kako su nizozemski kartografi prikazivali prostor hrvatskih zemalja. S obzirom na to da su raspolagali s manje praktičnoga znanja o jugoistočnoeuropskoj pograničnoj regiji poput Slavonije, ovo je istraživanje usmjereno na ispitivanje načina i opsega primjene specifičnih kartografskih dosega te tradicije, odnosno na propitivanje posljedica nedostatka provjerljivih informacija o prostoru kojim su se bavili u svojim radovima. Stoga su u ovoj transdisciplinarnoj analizi izabrane nizozemske karte i uspoređene s habsburškima, koje su se temeljile na preciznijim terenskim podatcima iz Slavonije ili čak rezultatima izmjera vojnih inženjera. Dodatna komparacija s kartama francuskih kartografa, koji su jednako kao i Nizozemci bili "daleki", odnosno politički manje zainteresirani za prostor Slavonije, uključena je u istraživanje s ciljem stvaranja šire slike prostora. ; This study seeks to find out in what ways the Dutch cartographers of the first half of the eighteenth century depicted the region of Slavonia. This study seeks to find out in what ways the Dutch cartographers of the first half of the eighteenth century depicted the region of Slavonia. Although it is generally known that the Low Countries represented the centre of cartography especially in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, little attention has been paid to the Dutch cartographic tradition of the eighteenth century in relation to the Croatian lands. Since the Dutch had less practical knowledge about the Southeastern European bordering region of Slavonia, this research reveals how their cartographers adhered to their original cartographic tradition and how they dealt with the deficiency of direct verifiable information, especially regarding significant cartographic changes of the time. Članak pruža interdisciplinarni uvid u svjesno inicirane ekonomske i okolišne promjene na primjeru ranonovovjekovnoga pothvata privatnoga projekta isušivanja močvara na feudalnom posjedu Borelli u Vrani. Cilj usporedbe kartografskih i demografskih statističkih podataka bio je pronaći naznake promjena koje je okolišni zahvat izazvao te kvantificirati ekonomski, ekološki i demografski napredak u promatranim izvorima. Fokus je stavljen na pronalaženje konkretne veze između proširivanja obradivih površina isušivanjem i postupnoga sveukupnog razvitka Ravnih kotara. Pokušaj kvantitativne analize kartografskih izvora nije ponudio mjerljive rezultate, prije svega zbog kartometrijske i sadržajne neusporedivosti dostupnih izvora. Kvalitativna je analiza pokazala da je isušivanje močvara te bonifikacija potencijalno vrlo plodna tla, uz naseljavanje novih stočarskih poreznih obveznika u nepovoljnim okolnostima, predstavljalo tek jednu od pretpostavaka za demografski rast. S druge su strane mletačko-osmansko ratovanje i političko-vojni pritisci na duže vrijeme pretvorili Vranu, nekada plodnu žitnicu, u ekološki nestabilan, ekonomski i socijalno devastiran te demografski opustošen kraj. ; This paper shows interdisciplinary insight into economy-driven early modern environmental change, using the example of the privately financed venture of marshland reclamation on Count Borelli's Vrana Estate. The research goal was to compare cartographic and demographic statistical sources to see how such an improvement was represented in correlated data, and if certain quantitative features of ecological, economic, and demographic development could be accurately measured. The focus was on the direct relationship between the enlargement of arable fields by drainage and the gradual overall advancement of the area. Quantitative analysis failed to offer reliable results, primarily due to inconsistent cartometric and content comparability of available sources. Qualitative analysis revealed that marshland drainage and soil improvement of potentially very fertile land, along with the colonisation of new inhabitants as agrarian land users and taxpayers, provided a moderate opportunity for demographic increase in rather depressive circumstances. Due to Venetian-Ottoman wars, the once agriculturally prosperous area of Vrana was rendered into an ecologically-unstable, economically-devastated, politically and militarily-pressured, socially-wrecked, and demographically half-deserted landscape.

In the period from 2011 to 2017, there was a fluctuating yet notable increase of unaccompanied minors transiting through Croatia. The 2015 and 2016 events involving the Balkan corridor included a significant number of unaccompanied and separated children, who count as vulnerable groups of refugees and migrants. State policies and measures aimed at providing care and protection to these groups include mechanisms of appointing special guardians, who are tasked with safeguarding their rights and providing general assistance within the system of care during their stay and/or during the status recognition procedure. Using a desk study of relevant accessible documents together with a thematic content analysis of 26 expert interviews that were conducted in three cycles; in 2014, 2016, and 2018 with relevant stakeholders and care providers, the authors discussed the experiences of practitioners in the field and some of the most important challenges they are facing within the special guardianship system. The general role of caregivers in the reception, integration and possible family reunification of unaccompanied children was also examined. The results suggested that due to short period of their stay in Croatia, and due to systemic insufficiencies within the system of care, the state is facing inconsistencies in the implementation of existing European Union standards and of national measures. The special guardianship care system for unaccompanied and separated children, which is moderately influenced by the 2015 and 2016 Balkan corridor experience, has been limited by lack of professional and financial resources, lack of stronger institutional support and somewhat overlapping competences of different parties in the system of care. ; U razdoblju između 2011. i 2017. došlo je do oscilirajućeg, ali vidljivog, porasta broja maloljetnika bez pratnje u tranzitu kroz Hrvatsku. Događaji na balkanskom koridoru tijekom 2015. i 2016. uključivali su i značajan broj djece bez pratnje i djece odvojene od roditelja, koji se smatraju ranjivim skupinama izbjeglica i migranata. Državne politike i mjere usmjerene na skrb za te skupine, odnosno na njihovu zaštitu, uključuju i mehanizme imenovanja posebnih skrbnika koji se bave zaštitom njihovih prava i pružanjem opće potpore u sustavu skrbi tijekom njihova boravka i/ili tijekom postupka priznavanja statusa. Provedenom analizom dostupnih dokumenata nadopunjenom tematskom analizom sadržaja 26 ekspertnih intervjua koji su bili provedeni u tri ciklusa, 2014., 2016. i 2018., među relevantnim dionicima i pružateljima skrbi, u radu se razmatraju neki od najvažnijih izazova u sustavu posebnog skrbništva, ispitujući opću ulogu skrbnika za prihvat, integraciju i moguće spajanje obitelji za djecu bez pratnje. Rezultati upućuju na to da se zbog kratkog razdoblja boravka djece bez pratnje u Hrvatskoj, ali i zbog sustavnih nedostataka u sustavu skrbi, država suočava s nedosljednostima u provedbi postojećih standarda Europske unije kao i nacionalnih mjera. Stoga je sustav posebnog skrbništva za maloljetnike bez pratnje i djecu odvojenu od roditelja, na koji je samo dijelom utjecalo iskustvo s balkanskim koridorom iz 2015. i 2016., ograničen nedostatkom stručnih i financijskih sredstava, izostankom snažnije institucionalne podrške angažmanu posebnih skrbnika te donekle preklapanjem nadležnosti različitih aktera u sustavu skrbi.

U radu se razmatra prva integralna karta hrvatskih povijesnih regija koja je izrađena u drugoj polovici 17. st. Rukopisnu inačicu te karte za potrebe Papinskoga ilirskoga (hrvatskog) zavoda svetog Jeronima u Rimu nacrtao je Pietro Andrea Buffalini 1663. Ta karta je zatim, uz odgovarajuće izmjene, otisnuta pod naslovom Illyricum hodiernum u Lučićevu historiografskom djelu De Regno Dalmatiae et Croatiae te u Blaeuovu atlasu Atlas Maior sive Geographia Blaviana 1668. Sudeći prema sadržaju tih karata i političkim okolnostima u kojima su nastale, oblikovanju njihova sadržaja najviše je pridonio hrvatski polihistor i kartograf Ivan Lučić. On je kao vrsni poznavatelj povijesti i geografije Hrvatske vlastiti kartografski imaginarij pretočio u kartografsku sintezu u obliku pregledne karte koja je nastala na temelju kompilacije sadržaja starijih karata i na temelju osobnih istraživanja. Kartom je ponajprije htio jasno pokazati koji se prostor u duhu reformnokatoličkog ilirizma podrazumijeva tadašnjim Ilirikom, odnosno Hrvatskom, a ujedno iskoristiti mogućnost koju karta kao kodirana slika geografske stvarnosti ima kada je potrebno predočiti prostorne odnose u kontekstu historijsko-geografskog pregleda razvoja Hrvatske. ; This paper deals with the first integral map of Croatian historical regions, which was made in the second half of the 17th century. The manuscript version of the map was drawn for the purposes of the Papal Illyrian (Croatian) Congregation of St. Jerome in Rome by Pietro Andrea Buffalini in 1663. The map was later printed, with appropriate changes, under the title Illyricum hodiernum in Ivan Lučić's historiographic work De Regno Dalmatiae et Croatiae, and in Willem Blaeu's Atlas Maior sive Geographia Blaviana in 1668. Judging from the contents of these versions of the map, and the political circumstances in which they emerged, the Croatian polyhistor and cartographer Ivan Lučić contributed the most to the formation of their contents. As an outstanding expert on the history and geography of Croatia, Lučić translated his own cartographic imaginarium into a cartographic synthesis in the form of an overview map that emerged based both on a compilation of the contents of older maps, and on his personal research. In this map his primary intent was to show, in the spirit of Illyrianism linked to the Catholic Reformation, the area which during that period constituted Illyria, or rather Croatia, and also to make use of the potential that maps, as codified depictions of geographic reality, have when it is necessary to present spatial relations in the context of a historical-geographic review of the development of Croatia.

Fast development and transmission of disease poses a health threat for a larger population and affects the functioning of almost all social systems, both within and outside nation-state borders, thus also affecting the possibilities of free migration and movement. The main aim of this article is to discuss the principal mechanisms of disease control in relation to migration in various socio-historical contexts. It identifies and compares historical patterns and contemporary measures of preventive control systems while considering the wider social context and migrants' specific position. This paper combines the historical insights into various administrative and political systems in Europe and Croatia that have sought adequate measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases with the current state of the affair in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of the regulation and management of the contemporary COVID-19 pandemic, restrictions have been introduced on cross-border movement and travel. Those restrictions and quarantine measures have abruptly halted not only international but also migration within the borders of nation-states, especially during the first wave of the pandemic in spring 2020. Emphasis has been placed on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on labour and forced migration, as well as on the trends in public attitudes on immigrants affected by pandemic management mechanisms. ; Brzi razvoj i širenje bolesti koja predstavlja zdravstvenu prijetnju većem udjelu stanovništva imaju učinak na funkcioniranje gotovo svih društvenih sustava, kako unutar tako i izvan granica nacionalne države, utječući stoga i na mogućnosti slobodnoga kretanja i migracija. Glavni je cilj ovog rada raspraviti osnovne mehanizme kontrole bolesti u odnosu na migracije u različitim društveno-povijesnim kontekstima. Pritom se identificiraju i uspoređuju povijesni obrasci i suvremene mjere sustava preventivne kontrole, uzimajući u obzir širi društveni kontekst i specifični položaj migranata. U ovome se radu kombiniraju povijesni uvidi u različite upravljačke i političke sustave u Europi i Hrvatskoj koji su tražili odgovarajuće mjere za sprečavanje širenja zaraznih bolesti sa stanjem u borbi protiv pandemije bolesti COVID-19. Regulacijom i upravljanjem aktualnom pandemijom bolesti COVID-19 uvedena su ograničenja prekograničnoga kretanja i putovanja. Ta ograničenja i uvođenje karantenskih mjera naglo su zaustavili ne samo međunarodnu već i migraciju unutar granica nacionalnih država, posebno tijekom prvog vala pandemije u proljeće 2020. Stoga je naglasak stavljen na učinke pandemije bolesti COVID-19 na radne i prisilne migracije, ali i na učinak mehanizama upravljanja pandemijom na razvoj stavova javnosti prema imigrantima.
