The earliest engagement of German gramophone companies in recording Persian music dates back to 1906-7, when three tracks were recorded for the Beka Company and a dozen recordings were issued on the Globophon label. About twenty years later the Lindström company was engaged in the process of recording music in Persia through a subsidiary company, Baidaphone. Recording activities of Persian music by German companies reached their peak during the 1930's. This can be explained as a result of intensified political relations between (Nazi) Germany and Persia, which eventually caused changing the international name of Persia to the local name of Iran. During this period, local agents and traders had a determinant role in connecting native musicians with German recording companies. Finally, the Lindström company's multinational nature and policy ensured penetration of the Lindström labels far into the East including Persia.

Many low income households are supported by Home Based Enterprises (HBE) for their income generation. However, settlements in coastal areas have physical problems related to the corrosive land and climate condition, as well as the possibilities of natural hazards such as flooding (ADB, 2003: UNHABITAT 2003). The rapid growth of cities especially in developing countries (DCs) contributes to social problems, serious burdens for human health and the environment. In order to improve the quality of human life in the coastal cities, some local governments decided to remove some settlements to the inland area such as problems in some big coastal cities in Indonesia. In many cases, many resettlements of housing failed to meet community's and user's requirements. To reduce and avoid sustainability problems, it is necessary to have more insight and understanding of the used of space in coastal low income housing. This paper describes user's activities and methodological approach used in order to determine user's requirements in coastal low income housing (LIH). Background: Social networks are a good source for monitoring public health during the outbreak of COVID-19, these networks play an important role in identifying useful information. Objectives: This study aims to draw a comparison of the public's reaction in Twitter among the countries of West Asia (a.k.a Middle East) and North Africa in order to make an understanding of their response regarding the same global threat. Methods: 766,630 tweets in four languages (Arabic, English French, and Farsi) tweeted in March 2020, were investigated. Results: The results indicate that the only common theme among all languages is 'government responsibilities (political)' which indicates the importance of this subject for all nations. Conclusion: Although nations react similarly in some aspects, they respond differently in others and therefore, policy localization is a vital step in confronting problems such as COVID-19 pandemic. © 2021 The authors, AIT Austrian Institute of Technology and IOS Press.

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine and show why post-occupancy evaluation (POE) of public apartment buildings in Ghana as a product of design is important. Design/methodology/approach: By design the paper is descriptive. It uses a literature review as a method to summarize, synthesize and show the gaps in the existing knowledge on public apartment buildings in general and Ghana in particular. These arguments are brought together in a conceptual framework for approaching POE studies. Findings: This paper finds that gaps exist in the existing POE research knowledge regarding public apartment buildings in Ghana not only as residential settings but also as designed artifacts intended for use. Research limitations/implications: There is a need for scientific research which focus on the design and use of public apartment buildings in Ghana to provide empirical basis for design, policy and research decision-making. Social implications: This paper shows that occupants' feedback information is important, as it can benefits government, designers and builders, building regulators and managers, as well as end users. Originality/value: The paper contributes a conceptual framework based on which POE studies can be designed.
