Not Available ; The present study was undertaken to study the effect of ammonia, urea, non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA), and β-hydroxybutyric acid (β-OHB) on oocyte development and granulosa cell (GC) growth parameter of ovine (Ovis aries). Ovine oocytes were matured in vitro in the presence of different concentration of ammonia, urea, NEFA, and β-OHB for 24 h, in vitro inseminated and evaluated for cleavage and blastocyst yield. Same concentrations of ammonia, urea, NEFA, and β-OHB were examined on growth parameters and hormone secretion activity of granulosa cells in vitro. Real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction was used to evaluate the expression of steroidogenic genes (steroidogenic cytochrome P-450 (CYP11A1, CYP19A1)), cell proliferation-related genes (GDF9, FSHr), and apoptosis-related genes (BCL-2 and BAX). The maturation, cleavage, and blastocyst production rates were significantly lowered in media containing either 200 μM ammonia or 5 mM urea or high combo NEFA or 1 μM β-OHB. Exposure of granulosa cell to 400 μM ammonia or 1 μM β-OHB or very high combo or 6 mM urea significantly decreased all the parameters examined compared to lower levels of all nutritional and metabolic stressors. Elevated concentration of metabolic stressors induced GC apoptosis through the BAX/BCL-2 pathway and reduced the steroidogenic gene messenger RNA (mRNA) expression and cell proliferation gene mRNA expression. These results suggested that the decreased function of GCs may cause ovarian dysfunction and offered an improved understanding of the molecular mechanism responsible for the low fertility in metabolic stressed condition. ; Department of Biotechnology, Government of India (Grant number BT/PR7131/AAQ/1/526/2012)
Not Available ; The present study was undertaken to study the effect of stearic acid (SA), a nonesterified fatty acid (NEFA) on ovine granulosa cell growth, hormone production, apoptosis, DNA and protein content of oocytes. The oocytes and granulosa cells were collected from slaughter house derived ovaries and the cells were exposed to different concentrations of stearic acid to evaluate the granulosa cell growth, estrogen and progesterone production and incidence of apoptosis and some biochemical parameters (DNA and protein content) of oocytes. The cell number increment, monolayer formation rate, apoptosis, estrogen and progesterone production were significantly decreased in stearic acid group. Similarly, Protein and DNA contents of oocyte matured in 30µM stearic acid was significantly decreased compared to control group. In conclusion the metabolic stressors like stearic acid impaired the reproductive functions by impairing the functions of granulosa cell and oocytes in ewes. Not Available ; Stress is an imperative factor that influences physical and mental status of a sound individual aggravating homeostasis of the body. Changes in the maternal environment are one of the real factors responsible for physiological anxiety. Maternal metabolic anxiety could affect the science of female generation by focusing on the level of ovary, follicle and oocyte. Quantitative expression patterns of genes were studied at different in vivo and corresponding in vitro stages of oocyte development in sheep. It is concluded that the genes follow specific patterns of expression during oocyte development with different development events. Targeted gene expression was aberrant in embryo develop- ment, which can provide evidence on early embryo arrest and slowed embryo development. ; Department of Biotechnology, Government of India
Abstract. We present the results of an analysis of year-long (2007) monitoring of night time data of the VLF signal amplitude from the Indian Navy station VTX at 18.2 kHz, received by the Indian Centre for Space Physics, Kolkata. We analyzed this data to find out the correlation, if any, between night time amplitude fluctuation and seismic events. We found, analyzing individual cases (with magnitudes >5) as well as statistical analysis (of all the events with effective magnitudes greater than 3.5), that night time fluctuation of the signal amplitude has the highest probability to be beyond the 2σ level about three days prior to seismic events. Thus, the night time fluctuation could be considered as a precursor to enhanced seismic activities.

The search is based on a data sample of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC and corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1). The search is performed in final states with three leptons (electrons or muons), or with two same-charge leptons plus two jets. The observed (expected) significance of the signal for (WWW -/+)-W-+/--W-+/- production is 0.60 (1.78) standard deviations, and the ratio of the measured signal yield to that expected from the standard model is 0.34(-0.34)(+0.62) . Limits are placed on three anomalous quartic gauge couplings and on the production of massive axionlike particles.
