Livelihood Opportunities for Sudanese Refugees
In: Forced migration review, Heft 20
ISSN: 1460-9819
The article begins by briefly discussing the disadvantaged status of Sudanese refugees in Egypt, & then moves on to describe Skills for Southern Sudan, a nongovernmental organization established in 1995 to support Sudanese refugees in GB & East Africa to develop work skills & aid in job search. In Feb 1999, an office was opened in Cairo that provided information & support to Sudanese refugees who wished to participate in training & employment opportunities in East Africa & southern Sudan. While the office has since closed, it is worth noting that a number of Sudanese refugees from Cairo have benefited from the NGO's services & have returned to southern Sudan to work. H. Yu
