ABSTRACT: These research notes highlight the completion of the armed conflict between the Colombian State and Farc-Ep. This changing present moment is characterized by the pugnacity of the participants in the current political debate on the peace deal with the so called main insurgent organization of the country. Herewith the reflection over how conflicts end is based on Georg Simmel´s ideas. The exploration of the pro peace deal presidential campaigns reveals some lines of analysis. One of the major ascertainments of our preliminary exam is that, besides the contribution of a sociology of conflict, studying transitional periods requires to take into account features related to philosophy of history and memory studies. We assert that a social science which seeks to address the colombian present, must inquire about shifting sociation forms.

The University of Antioquia in Medellín, Colombia, was the scenario for holding what can be regarded now as a tradition in Latin America: an International Symposium on Georg Simmel. This review attempts to share the result of the third symposium outlining how simmelian categories were revisited and used as research keys for understanding the Latin American context. It is worth to mention that after the event not only the initiative of publishing the proceedings was achieved, but also the formalization of a Latin American simmelian studies network. This valuable experience of gathering around Simmel's work will return to its initial point when the Fourth Symposium will be hold in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on November 2015.

This working paper arises from the conviction that it is possible to propose a temporally oriented sociology with Georg Simmel. From his idea of the extension of the present, which belongs to his philosophy of history as to his sociology and philosophy of life, this paper looks forward to contributing to discussions related to historical experience, as well as collective and cultural memory, and social imagination. Framed within an ongoing research experience on future imaginaries of former guerrilla fighters in process of re-incorporation to the civilian life in the city of Medellin (Colombia), and resorting to other authors with problematizations on the present as a particular mediator between past and future, we state that an extended present in which a fundamentally traumatic past is constantly stalking and conditioned to the expectancies concerning the fiction of the new beginning characteristic of the post-conflictual imaginary is a particular feature of the Colombian temporal regime.
