This studyaimed to identifythe determinants of leadership in improvesound governancein education sector institutions of the South Nation Nationalities People Region (SNNPR).The study was used a quantitative method(QUAN). It usedinferentialstatistiucs approach for their appropriateness for defining the research problem. The survey questionnaire collected from 660 participants purposefully and randomly selected from the nine zones, nine Woredas, and nine town administrations sampled education institutions of the SNNPR. Multistage sampling techniques (purposive, random sampling techniques) were instrumental. The logit model and multicollinearity effect were employed were instrumental. It has been found that sampled education sector institutions wereexperiencing various leadership determinants that hindered the promotion of sound governance, on the logit model. It can be concluded that, despite some policy initiatives and directives introduced by the regional government, the study identifies various determinants of leadership that effecting the promotion of sound governance.The researcher, thus, specified some significant policy implications to promote sound governance in SNNPR education sector institutions: establish strong accountability mechanism, granting autonomy, strengthening anti-corruption agencies and law, promoting management development program, promoting equity and fairness institutionalizing transparency system, trans, revisit policy directives and initiatives, promoting integrity, the merit-basednomination of education officials and adopt empowerment and management programs are some of the policy implications.

Objective: This research examines the relationship and influences of demographic variables (independent variables) and sound governance (Dependent variable) in Ethiopian public universities. Methods: The study employed a sectional survey design through a quantitative approach used for their appropriateness for defining the research problem to converge the two sets of data. While data on legal issues was collected from purposefully selected legislative documents, the survey questionnaire data were collected from 1474 participants and randomly selected from the nine public universities. Both standardized and self-developed questionnaires were used. Inferential statistics-ANOVA, linear and multiple regression were employed based on the nature and types of the fundamental questions. Result: Demographic variables are a practical and convenient measure to monitor and assess the quality of service, experience and qualification and sex and ageing to compare different groups and populations in Ethiopian public universities. These findings generally agreed with results obtained in different studies concerning sound governance associated with demographic variables, such as gender, education qualification, and working experiences. The need to conceive demographic variables as a comparable and repeatable measure to sound governance was highlighted as fundamental to making it an informative instrument for policymakers

The purpose of this study was to examine the school-based continuous professional development in primary schools of Wolaita Zone. A mixed method with convergent design was employed. The target population of the study was teachers, school principals, and cluster school supervisors. The sample consisted of 389 participants selected using purposive and multistage sampling techniques. Data was collected using questionnaire, interview and focus group discussion (FGD). Means and standard error were used to analyze the quantitative data and thematic analysis was used to analyze qualitative data from FGD and interview. The study found that teachers have inadequate access to continuous professional development (CPD) activities and less satisfied with them. Moreover, financial cost, location, timing and suitability of provision workload, personal circumstances, and knowledge of opportunities, school policy and availability of staff were found to be the inhabiting factors for the effective implementation of CPD. Facilitators or opportunities for the successful implementation of CPD were also found to be poor. Thus, the study concluded that the implementation of CPD activities at the government primary school level in Wolaita Zone was not adequate and facing challenges.
