The Psychological and Spiritual Dimension of Volunteering
In: Logos, universality, mentality, education, novelty: Logos, universalitate, mentalitate, educație, noutate. Section Social sciences = Secțiunea Științe sociale, Band 11, Heft 2, S. 59-67

Volunteering is one of the oldest human social cooperation activities. Whether it is called volunteering, whether it is called charity, whether it is in the form of social involvement and active participation in the public agenda, whether it is a small-scale or extremely large-scale activity, in niche fields or in traditional fields, organized on the basis of state-sponsored programs or non-governmental institutions, over time, volunteering has represented a clear manifestation of social cohesion. This form of social cohesion can come from a psychological need that some individuals satisfy by volunteering, or from a desire for personal development, or from adherence to certain religious precepts, but regardless of the motivation, the social utility and social responsibility of volunteering have been demonstrated over time. This paper aims to analyze the psychological and religious dimension of volunteering, from the perspective of its social utility and the responsibility that volunteering involves.
The Christian Spiritual Perspective of Healing in the Psychological Therapeutic Process
In: Logos, universality, mentality, education, novelty: Logos, universalitate, mentalitate, educație, noutate. Section Social sciences = Secțiunea Științe sociale, Band 11, Heft 2, S. 74-81
ISSN: 2458-1054
This paper aims to explore the Christian spiritual dimension of healing in the psychological therapeutic process. We started our approach with a parallel analysis of what mental suffering and spiritual suffering mean. Then, we brought into view a series of questions about the optimal way to treat mental illness and the specific methods of each field (psychology and religion) to deal with the needs of a mentally ill person. The paper discusses the weak points and strong points of each of the two ways and concludes that the two approaches are not mutually exclusive, but must represent a continuum from which the one who benefits is the patient.

Young Consumers' Fashion Brand Preferences. An Investigation among Students in Romania
In: Acta Universitatis Sapientiae. Communicatio, Band 6, Heft 1, S. 41-59
ISSN: 2537-2793
Abstract
The literature contends that youth are particularly fashion- and brand-sensitive, and they mostly prefer fast fashion brands; however, up to now, there has been little empirical data regarding Romanian youth's fashion brand preferences. In order to fill this gap, the article presents the results of an exploratory research based on mixed methodology which was realized among students in Cluj-Napoca, Romania in connection with their fashion brand preferences. The online survey showed that a little more than half of the students do have a preferred fashion brand, and these are indeed mostly fast fashion brands. However, taken relatively, i .e. compared to other cues, the brand of the apparel is less important for the students. The most brand-sensitive individuals are those who are fashion involved, early adopters of trends, and less price-sensitive. The narratives of the focus-group research enriched the insight about students' brand preferences.

Banks' Vulnerability and Financial Openness across Central and Eastern Europe
In: Studia Universitatis Babeş-Bolyai. Oeconomica, Band 62, Heft 3, S. 47-66
ISSN: 2065-9644
Abstract
This paper investigates the impact of the degree of capital account openness on banks' exposure to extreme events during the period 2005-2012 using a sample of financial institutions from Central and Eastern Europe. The empirical output highlights a positive and strongly significant impact of a higher degree of financial openness on banks' systemic vulnerability. Robust findings suggest that this harmful effect is lower for foreign owned banks or for those whose bank holding company signed one or more Vienna Initiative commitment letters. On the other side, tighter capital regulations and private monitoring policies enhance the positive impact of a higher degree of capital accounts openness on banks' vulnerability to systemic events.
Hijab(istas)—as Fashion Phenomenon. A Review
In: Acta Universitatis Sapientiae. Social analysis, Band 7, Heft 1, S. 59-67
ISSN: 2248-0854
Abstract
In the present article, I am shortly reviewing some aspects which can be regarded as important in considering the hijab a fashion phenomenon. The social media provides us with various images in which the hijab is presented as a form of fashionable accessory, it is adapted to various modern outfits. The literature on such fashionable takes of the hijab assesses that they can be interpreted as statement messages about women's empowerment. On the other hand, such adaptations also speak about the emergence of various subcultures about Muslim youth, which in accordance with the global sameness of youth are using social media in order to send messages and connect with each other. After a brief presentation on the role of bottom-up diffusion of fashion innovations, I am reviewing, grosso modo, two representations of the hijab: the hijab as a religious symbol and the hijab as a (fashion) manifesto about women's empowerment.
