İmaj faktörü ve Avrupa Birliği'ne doğru giderken Türkiye'nin imajı
Bugün Türkiye'nin sahip olduğu imaj oldukça kötü ve olumsuzdur. Bu savdan yola çıkarak gerçekleştirdiğim araştırmamda bu olumsuz imajın nasıl oluştuğu ve bunun nedenleri ortaya koyulmaya çalışılmıştır. Türkiye'nin bu olumsuz imajı öncelikle bazı tarihi kökenlere dayanmaktadır. Batı ile Türklerin ilk temasları Haçlı Seferleri yani savaşlar yoluyla olmuştur. O dönemde Türkler sürekli fetihler yapan yayılmacı bir millet olduğu için Batı'da korku kaynağı olmuşlardır ve böylece Türklerle ilgili "barbar, medeniyetsiz millet" imajı oluşmuştur.Bu imaj uzun yıllar boyu silinememiştir. Daha yakın tarihe doğru gelindiğinde ise Türkiye'de demokrasi ve insan hakları ihlalleri alanında yaşanan olaylar imajımızı son derece olumsuz etkilemiştir. Bugün ülkemizin bu olumsuz imajını düzeltebilmek ve çok daha iyi bir imaj yerleştirebilmek için yoğun çalışmalar yapılmaktadır. Bu çalışmaların toplandığı ortak nokta ise Türkiye'nin Avrupa Birliği'ne girebilme çabasıdır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda Türkiye'nin çağdaşlık ve medeniyet anlamındaki eksikliklerinin giderilmesi için daha fazla gayret gösterilmektedir. Nitekim son dönemde Türkiye'nin imajını düzelten ve iyileştiren siyasi, sosyal ve ekonomik reformların çoğu Avrupa Birliği'ne girebilmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Diğer taraftan Türkiye, son yıllarda siyasi başarılarının yanında sanat ve spor alanlarında da ciddi başarılar elde etmiştir. NATO Zirvesi gibi çok önemli uluslar arası toplantılar ve kongreler ülkemizde gerçekleştirilmeye başlanmıştır. Bunlar tüm dünyanın dikkatini Türkiye'ye çeken organizasyonlardır. Bunun gibi son dönemde imajımızı olumsuzdan olumluya doğru değiştiren pek çok olay yaşanmıştır. By setting of thesis, I tried to bring up how consisted of that bad image and the reasons of it. That bad image of Turkey firstly supported by some historical sources.The first contacts of Turkey with West became by the way of the Crusades. On that term, Turks became the origin of fear for Europeans because they were a spreading nation that made continual conquests; in this way "the barbarian and uncivilized nation" image consisted of about Turks. That bad image couldn't been cleaned for long years. In nearer history, the events about democracy and human rights violations in Turkey affect our image badly.Today, more intensive studies are made to be able to repair our that negative image and to place a better image instead of it. The common point that studies are gathered is the effort of Turkey to enter European Union. With this aim more energy is spent to get rid of the defects of Turkey about contemporariness ana civilization. Likewise, in last term most of political, social and economic reforms that repair the image of Turkey has been made with the aim of entering European Union. Neverthless; besides Its political successes, Turkey won other serious successes at sport and art in last years. Like NATO Summit, many important international meeting and congres begin to be arranged in our country. These are organizations which call all the world's attention to Turkey. In last term events that like that are carried out which change our image from negative to positive. All these events were considered in my thesis study, so the image of Turkey while going toward European Union are brought out here.
