Autonomy as the Articulating Axis of Foreign Policy of Latin America and the Caribbean in the 21st Century ; La autonomía como eje articulador de las políticas exteriores latinoamericanas a inicios del siglo XXI
Among the attributes that have characterized leftist governments and progressivism during the first three decades of the new century in Latin America and the Caribbean, the search for a maximization of autonomy, both nationally and abroad, of its government management stands out, the defense of national sovereignty and the search for a reduction of the gap in socio-economic inequalities. Although recent years speak of a contraction of these advances, it is also worth highlighting a great lesson drawn from those intense years of integration efforts, the vital importance of establishing this favorable regional political scenario to consolidate political consensus and the resizing of our autonomies. ; Entre los atributos que han caracterizado a los gobiernos de izquierdas y el progresismo durante los tres primeros lustros del nuevo siglo en América Latina y El Caribe, destaca la búsqueda de una maximización de la autonomía, tanto en el ámbito nacional como exterior de su gestión gubernamental, la defensa de la soberanía nacional y la búsqueda de una reducción de las grandes desigualdades socio-económicas. Si bien los años recientes hablan de una contracción de esos avances, también vale resaltar una gran lección extraída de esos intensos años de esfuerzos integracionistas, la importancia vital de establecer ese escenario político regional favorable para consolidar la concertación política y el redimensionamiento de nuestras autonomías.
