In conditions of modern economic and political destabilisation in Ukraine, human capital of the child population is considered as the most reliable indicator of socioeconomic development of the country and its regions. The primary goal of the study is the analysis of health status as the main element of human capital among the child population aged 0–14, and external and family environmental factors influencing this population group in the city of Lviv (in the light of available statistics and materials of the author's own sociological research). Research results show a potential crisis of human capital among the child population in Lviv city. Results of own field research show a statistically important correlation between the willingness of parents to have more children and the following independent variables: number of members in the household, and the household's income. The state of health among the child population showed a significant correlation between the following variables: household's income, life satisfaction among parents, availability of healthcare in the place of residence, financial affordability of healthcare, physical activity among children, influence of noise and unpleasant scents.

Abstract. The article addresses the issue of the smart city concept in reference to two neighbouring countries – Poland and Ukraine. The paper also analyses different research trends and directions in the scope of the smart city concept, as well as the process and conditions of implementation of the concept in countries selected for detailed analysis. The detailed analysis covered the implementation of the smart city concept in two cities in Poland and Ukraine, belonging to neighbouring administrative units of the second order – Lublin and Lviv. It was determined that both in Poland and Ukraine, the smart city concept is only at the initial stage of implementation. It is caused by a number of different conditions, primarily including socio-economic transformation of the countries and inconsequence in reforming different spheres of socio-economic life in Ukraine. Local initiatives (analysed in detail based on the example of the cities of Lublin and Lviv) were determined to be of key importance in the implementation process.

The purpose of the article is the estimation of the level of development of Polish-Ukrainian transborder regions, provision of an outline of problems and perspectives of their development, and of possible ways of solving such problems. The hypothesis states that the border line, on both the Ukrainian and Polish sides, is a powerful negative factor in the development of border regions. It is particularly visible on the Ukrainian side of the border. In order to delimitate the research area, the criterion of its location on counties (administration areas are named: in Poland — "poviat," in Ukraine — "raion") frame was applied. Therefore, for the transborder region, we consider administrative units located directly near the border: 9 counties of the Lubelskie and Podkarpackie voivodships for the Polish side, and 10 counties of 3 transborder regions in Ukraine (Lviv, Volyn, and Zakarpattia). For complex analysis of its development, we selected 9 diagnostic variables of sociodemographic, environmental, and economic development. In order to evaluate the level of development of transborder region, the synthetic index of its development was elaborated (Perkal index). The analysis of the spatial distribution of selected variables showed similarities in the development of Polish-Ukrainian transborder regions by environmental aspect, but significant differences in economic and sociodemographic depictions. In the context of the Perkal index, 4 classes of development of administrative units were elaborated. The worst situation regarding development was observed in the Volodymyr Volynskyi County with a level of development of -0,58. The best situation was observed in the case of the Bieszczadzki County with a level of development of 0,50. According to the authors, greater integration of Ukraine with the European Union, and active policy for activation of transborder regions could contribute to a reduction of differences in development of Polish-Ukrainian border regions.

The study concerns the relationship between health and geopolitics in the United Kingdom (UK). To demonstrate this relationship, we examined the subject and tone of articles published in the popular media (on the example of tabloid the Daily Mail) in 2006–2020 concerning health and medical care, and the health and health care practice of Eastern European immigrants belonging to and not belonging to the European Union (EU). There was an increase in media criticism of the behaviour of immigrants in the years 2014–2017, in the period around the referendum in favour of the UK leaving the EU (Brexit). Attention was drawn to the media's use of a Belief in a Zero-Sum Game (BZSG) narrative at that time. On both sides, "hosts" and the "guests", a progressive anomy process was observed, degrading the behaviour of individuals and social groups.

The article aims to compare the local tools of Ukrainian and Polish spatial policy. It includes legal solutions (with a particular emphasis on the basics of development restrictions) and problems related to their application diagnosed in the literature on the subject. Based on the analysis of the spatial management systems of both countries, the similarities and differences were determined, referring them to the international discussion and suggesting directions for further research (on the spatial management systems of Central and Eastern European countries). Ukraine and Poland were selected for analysis in terms of similarities (partially similar historical conditions, location) and differences (status of a European Union Member State, spatial planning traditions). ; Artykuł ma na celu porównanie lokalnych narzędzi ukraińskiej i polskiej polityki przestrzennej. Obejmuje rozwiązania prawne (ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem podstaw ograniczeń rozwojowych) oraz problemy związane z ich stosowaniem zdiagnozowane w literaturze przedmiotu. Na podstawie analizy systemów zagospodarowania przestrzennego obu krajów określono podobieństwa i różnice, odnosząc je do dyskusji międzynarodowej i sugerując kierunki dalszych badań (o systemach zagospodarowania przestrzennego krajów Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej). Do analizy wybrano Ukrainę i Polskę pod względem podobieństw (częściowo podobne uwarunkowania historyczne, położenie) i różnic (status członka Unii Europejskiej, tradycje planowania przestrzennego).

Ukraine and Poland were selected for analysis in terms of similarities (partially similar historical conditions, location) and differences (status of a European Union Member State, spatial planning traditions).

Research objective: The article attempts a diagnosis of the financial literacy and activity of consumers in aspects related to financial management, sources of financial knowledge, knowledge of the market offer of banks, and having their own account in the group of young consumers from the Lublin region.
The research problem and methods: The group of young consumers constitutes one of the market's largest and most developing consumer groups and is classified as a particularly vulnerable group. Our study was conducted on a random sample of 261 students aged 17–18 attending the second grade of grammar and technical secondary schools in selected poviats (counties) of the Lublin region, based on the criterion of population wealth.
The process of argumentation: Based on the relevant literature and the quantitative survey. The collected data were analyzed using basic analysis methods (such as independence tests and correspondence analysis).
Research results: The study showed that more than 70% of young people from the Lublin region have financial resources at their disposal. However, only 16.7% of them attempts to manage their own finances. More than half of them have a bank account, but the knowledge of the market offer targeted by banks at this target group is low. Statistical analyses showed an impact of the cultural capital represented by the mother's education and place of residence on the financial activity of the youth.
Conclusions, innovations, and recommendations: Young people are often unaware of the market offer addressed to them and rarely attempt to consciously manage their financial resources. Research shows that the young generation has limited opportunities to expand their financial knowledge and, consequently, implement reasonable financial practices. Simultaneously, young consumers are the most promising target group, especially in the context of an ageing society and the low loyalty of individual buyers.
