<p>This qualitative research explored American Caucasian parents' experience with transnational-transracial adoption. Guided by social constructivism and phenomenology, the goal of this study was to understand how parents perceive and interpret their experience when adopting a child transracially, specifically from China and Korea. Data from in-depth interviews with 17 parents revealed the essence of their experience as embedded in family relations distinctive at various stages of the adoption process. Prior to adoption, transracial adoptive parents possessed well-established ideas about the family and parenthood, which enhanced their commitment and sense of ownership throughout the adoption process. While meeting the child and developing a relationship, parents experienced a complicated mixture of emotions, including tension, anxiety, guilt, and grief. The results also offer further insight into the perspective of American Caucasian parents regarding the cultural socialization of their children. The lack of knowledge and resources regarding the adopted child's birth culture influenced the parents, often resulting in feelings of helplessness.<strong></strong></p>

AbstractAdopting a multiple case‐study approach, the current article explores how a music‐based, early critical media literacy practice can help young Korean bilingual children critically engage with the lyrics of the songs and visual images in the music videos––short animated films that provided audio, corresponding lyrics and visual images simultaneously. As part of a large‐scale research project, this study focuses on data collected over a 4‐month period through multiple sources. The findings revealed that dual language conversations about gender roles through music videos served as powerful mediums to help children deepen their thoughts about gender representations in the songs and articulate their voices.

BackgroundThe aim of this study was to establish the psychometric properties of the Korean Behaviour Problems Inventory (BPI‐01).MethodsFifty‐five allied professionals completed a content validity questionnaire about the Korean BPI‐01. To examine reliability, 52 individuals with intellectual disabilities residing in a medium‐sized residential home were evaluated by two occupational therapists trained in the administration of the Korean BPI‐01 through interviews with caregivers who had known the residents at least 6 months.ResultsAllied professionals' responses supported the content validity of the Korean BPI‐01. The results of intraclass correlation coefficients and Cronbach's α indicate that the Korean BPI‐01 is a reliable instrument.ConclusionsThe results of the present study indicate that the Korean BPI‐01 holds adequate content validity and reliability for measuring behavioural problems in individuals with intellectual disabilities in Korean clinical settings.
