Este artículo se propone analizar la presencia de los derechos humanos en los lineamientos curriculares de la formación ciudadana (educación cívica) de algunos países de la región latinoamericana. Así, de este modo, detectar la concepción de ciudadano y ciudadanía que se apoya; revelar los derechos a los que los curricula le ponen mayor énfasis e identificar las relaciones que se establecen entre los derechos humanos y algunas categorías ciudadanas fundamentales como la igualdad y desarrollo de la personalidad, libertad, democracia, justicia y protección social, identidad nacional y respeto de la diversidad, convivencia e interdependencia internacional, valoración de la paz y de los mecanismos de resolución de conflictos, seguridad y protección del medio ambiente. Con este propósito se aborda teoría vinculada a la relación entre la ciudadanía y derechos humanos y cómo esta relación se expresa en el ámbito curricular. En segundo lugar, se aplica a los lineamientos curriculares vinculados con la formación ciudadana de algunos países, una"Matriz de Categorías Ciudadanas" para de esta forma determinar convergencias y divergencias y, por sobre todo, detectar las tendencias que se observan en el tratamiento de los derechos humanos en el currículum. Finalmente, se plantean algunas sugerencias sobre nuevos objetivos de formación ciudadana con miras hacia el futuro en que los derechos ocupan un lugar central. ; This article tries to analyze the presence of Human Rights in the syllabus of Citizenship Education (Civics) of some Latin American countries. Thus, in this way, it detects the conceptions of citizen and citizenship supported; it reveals the rights the curriculum places emphasis on, and identifies the relationships between Human Rights and some citizenship categories which are essential as equality and personality development, freedom, democracy, justice and social protection, national identity and diversity respect, coexistence and international interdependence, peace valuation and the instruments to solve conflicts, security and protection of the environment. With this aim, the theory is related to the relationship between citizenship and human rights and how this relation is expressed in the curricular area. In second place, a "Matrix of Citizenship Categories" is applied to the curriculum guidelines to determine, in this way, convergences and divergences and mainly, to detect the tendencies that are observed in the treatment of Human Rights in the syllabus. Finally, the text points some suggestions about new aims of citizens training looking at the future, where Human Rights take a central place.
