Letter from Joseph M. Peirce to Florence Fletcher, 4 June 1912
Joseph Peirce writes to Florence Fletcher in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, from Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont, on "Monday night." He relates how he and Gilmour broke the quarantine on campus and were almost caught. The letter is addressed to Miss Florence Fletcher and postmarked 4 June 1912. ; The Norwich University campus was placed under quarantine after two students developed symptoms of smallpox in May 1912. Joseph Moore Peirce graduated from Norwich University with an electrical engineering degree in 1914. He married Florence Douglas Fletcher in Rockingham, Vermont, on 24 December 1914.
