"This book aims to develop new methodology for the study of International Relations based on joy, informed by current thinking about physics and feminist theory. It examines how the mechanistic-deterministic worldview derived from the Newtonian model has influenced the epistemology and methodology of IR (i.e., the idea that the world is constituted of independent fragments), and seeks ways to develop a new methodology for IR by drawing on the potential of a non-fragmented worldview. The author argues that it is this modern Western view of human beings (or societies) as isolated and separate from the world that prevents IR from finding new solutions to the questions of war and conflict. Drawing upon case studies and examples from film, this book instead proposes joy as an alternative methodology for studying IR, exploring the possibility of self-healing in physical and emotional trauma in extreme violent conditions. The author also discusses how quantum theory contributes to positive psychology in understanding happiness and empowerment, and demonstrates how these findings can further widen the study of IR. Globalization has been traditionally interpreted as a phenomenon that takes place at the macro level and is determined by states and markets. This volume takes a different approach to understanding globalization, showing how through the global sex trade, globalization is embodied and enacted by individuals.

Emotional abuse and psychological violence refer to patterned maltreatment used to break down the personal integrity and sense of self-worth of the target. In this article, I address the experiences of emotional abuse and psychological violence of women in long-term heterosexual relationships based on my feminist activist research in collaboration with Women's Line, an anti-violence, women's rights non-governmental organisation in Finland. The research included co-moderating two online support groups for women and conducting follow-up interviews. In the analysis, I show that non-physical forms of violence are deeply felt and transform a target's sense of self and their relationships with the world. However, targets may have difficulty recognising that they are subjected to abuse and doubt their own experiences, despite the severe effects of abuse and the risks posed to their safety. Thus, I argue for the need to name and identify non-physical abuse as severe violence in order to raise awareness and to validate the target's experiences.

In this chapter discuss the potential of a non-fragmented and non-dualist onto-epistemology for the study of International Relations based on philosophical implications of second wave quantum mechanics. I build on physicist philosopher David Bohm's conceptualization of Implicate order and Karen Barad's posthumanist theorizing on intra-activity of hunans and non-humans based on Niels Bohr's philosophy-physics. ; My objective in this chapter is to open up discussion how rethinking and re-evaluating unquestioned assumptions or scientific paradigm can enhance the practice of IR scholarship in contemporary world marked by crisis, instability, insecurity and growing global inequalities. Global financial crisis, war on terror, climate change and the increasing flow of refugees demand us to recognize the interconnectedness of politics, policies, society, nature and culture. In this regard I see the potential of non-fragmented onto-epistemology as a way to move beyond the limitations of IR which I see relying in the ontology of separation and metaphysical individualism ; Peer reviewed

In arguing that globalization has uncovered the truth about people & their environment, this chapter analyzes the explanatory features of the "Foucauldian notion of power" & its contribution to the globalization of the economy. It is argued that neoliberalism presents a universalized discourse based on the ideology that (contrary to liberal beliefs) a wealthy society will benefit all. Thus, globalization affects each individual by influencing the manner in which all people view & identify themselves. In addition, neoliberal discourse views globalization as uniquely tied to capitalism when states become commodified & a "market discipline" or "governmentality" emerges. Governmentality affects the global market & the individual, producing not only the individualization supported by Smithian theories, but also the normalization of consumer culture.
