[EN] The rural development policy applied by the European Union during the 2007-2013 pro-gramming period represented an important turning point, as it incorporated a transversal methodological approach reflected in Axis 4. LEADER, which transfers the accumulated experience from 1991 by the LEADER Initiative to the rural development programming. Among other aspects, local actors embedded in the territory are entrusted with the design and implementation of the rural development strategy. These local actors are formally organized in Local Action Groups (LAGs). The aim of this paper is to determine to which extent the 264 LAGs have assumed the philosophy of this rural development approach. To accomplish this objective, we apply amultivariate technique, the Cluster Analysis. This allows for the identification of significant differences between LAGs and their classification in homogeneous clusters. This is the first interdisciplinary collection of articles addressing the unique history of Chicana women. From a diverse range of perspectives, a new generation of Chicana scholars here chronicles the previously undocumented rich tapestry of Chicanas' lives over the last three centuries. Focusing on how women have grappled with political subordination and sexual exploitation, the contributors confront the complex intersection of class, race, ethnicity, and gender that defines the Chicana experience in America. The book analyzes the ways that oppressive power relations and resistance to domination have shaped Chicana history, exploring subjects as diverse as sexual violence against Amerindian women during the Spanish conquest of California to contemporary Chicanas' efforts to construct feminist cultural discourses. The volume ends with a provocative dialogue among the contributors about the challenges, frustrations, and obstacles that face Chicana scholars, and the voices heard here testify to the vibrant state of Chicano scholarship.Trenchant and wide-ranging, this collection is essential reading for understanding the dynamics of feminism and multiculturalism

The rates of young people Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET) in the Mediterranean European Economic Area (MED EEA) are high. Hence, the European Union and national governments have developed and implemented different policies aimed to tackle the NEET situation. In this article, we try to identify and understand the most relevant barriers that keep vulnerable people as NEETs. We focused on youth as being at the highest risk of becoming NEETs: migrant women aged 25–29. By using semi-structured interviews and focus groups with key stakeholders and NEETs in the Spanish region of Murcia, we collected their views on and experiences with different programs and strategies. We conclude that this group is exposed to additional barriers due to the intersectionality of their characteristics. There are structural and contextual aspects, such as motherhood, a lack of social networks, or not knowing the language, which NEET policies do not address. We highlight the need of (i) improving the adaptiveness of relevant policies by being tailored to specific problems NEETs face, (ii) expanding the focus of NEET policies, and (iii) including the regional perspective in NEET policy design. In our comprehensive approach, we stress that the NEET policy alone cannot solve the NEET problem.

New immersive technologies (NITs) can be an ally or a rival when it comes to brand relationships. Given the multiplicity of options, marketers need to understand their customers also as audiences seeking experiences. However, such experiences need to exist within a company's digital ecosystem. This study presents an analysis of six companies that have used NITs to varying degrees. We propose a framework in which more cases of NIT usage in companies can be studied. We conclude that the more the initiatives come from a company's top-management overall ecosystem transformation, the more likely NIT adoption will fit into a general strategy for a brand-strengthening process and the more it will be effective. This exploratory analysis opens up a path for building new frameworks to measure a company's degree of involvement with and usage of interactive technologies.
; Rural development policies applied by the European Union have evolved in parallel with changes in rural areas over the last few decades. The main innovation in 2007-2013 programming period was the inclusion of a new crossmethodological axis, the Axis LEADER or axis 4. In order to ensure a greater interaction between different economic ...

Pyroelectrics are a material class that undergoes a change in polarization as the temperature of the system is varied. This effect can be utilized for applications ranging from thermal imaging and sensing to waste-heat energy conversion to thermally driven electron emission. Here, we review recent advances in the study and utilization of thin-film pyroelectrics. Leveraging advances in modeling, synthesis, and characterization has provided a pathway forward in one of the more poorly developed subfields of ferroelectricity. We introduce the complex physical phenomena of pyroelectricity, briefly explore the history of work in this space, and highlight not only new advances in the direct measurement of such effects but also how our ability to control thin-film materials is changing our understanding of this response. Finally, we discuss recent advances in thin-film pyroelectric devices and introduce a number of potentially new directions the field may follow in the coming years. ; Over the years, our team received support from numerous sources for the development of these techniques and scientific studies, including the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (Grant No. AF FA 9550-11-1-0073), the Army Research Office (Grant Nos. W911NF-10-1-0482 and W911NF-14-1-0104), the Office of Naval Research (Grant No. N00014-10-1-0525), the National Science Foundation (Grant Nos.
