This research aims to find out correlations of self-regulation to children's readiness in enrolling primary school. This quantitative research used associative method. The population consisted 5,284 children aged 5-6 year old in Semarang municipal. The techniques of sampling used multistage random sampling. There were 220 children consisting of 110 male and 110 female children. The technique to collect the data was questionnaire in which the filling system was read aloud by the researcher as assistance. Self-regulation was measured by Head-Toes-Knees-Shoulders (HTKS) task. Meanwhile, the readiness was measured by readiness scale to enroll primary school. The hypothesis test used regression test. The results showed that tcount=1.847 > ttable =1.651. The sig score was 0.006<0.05. It meant there was correlation of self-regulation to children's readiness to enroll primary school. Then, the effects of sex types as moderating variable with P = 0.709, larger than 0.05, showing that there was no difference in male self-regulation and female self-regulation to their readiness in enrolling primary school. Thus, it could be concluded that self-regulation influenced the children's readiness to enroll primary school. However, both male and female children, they did not have significant difference. Thus, parents, teachers, and governments should cooperate in preparing children enrolling primary school level not only in term of children's readiness aspect but also the external aspect, such as parents' readiness and school readiness.
This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the paired storytelling technique assisted with wayang kancil to enhance democratic attitude of elementary students. The research method used is the sequential explanatory mixed-method design. The sample in this study is the fifth A and B-grade students of Public Elementary School Petompon 01 Semarang. Quantitative data were analyzed using a t-test and N-gain test based on the value of students' democratic learning on theme Our Environment. Qualitative data were analyzed through the descriptive content of democratic concepts based on the wayang kancil storytelling 'Demokrasi Rimbaraya' (Democracy in the Forest). The study result shows that there were average differences of students' democratic learning in the experimental group from the control group. The improvement of the student democratic learning in experimental group was bigger than the control group. Based on the analysis result of the story of wayang kancil there were five emerging themes: (1) mutual acceptance, (2) living together in differences, (3) respect for others, (4) responsibility, and (5) being fair. Encountering with these democratic elements through wayang kancil as medium of instruction promotes students' understanding of democracy.
Abstrak. Saat ini, sudah dapat dipastikan dunia pendidikan anak usia dini di seluruh dunia telah banyak melakukan perubahan dan inovasi pembelajaran dengan adanya pandemic covid-19 yang mengharuskan kegiatan pembelajaran beralih dari sekolah ke rumah. Berbeda dengan 1 tahun ke belakang, dunia Pendidikan seolah kaget dan belum siap dengan adanya status pandemic yang mendadak dan mengharuskan pemerintah mengambil kebijakan untuk menutup sekolah. Penerapan berbagai strategi pembelajaran dan komunikasi guru-orangtua menjadi salah satu solusi untuk menemukan ramuan yang pas dalam mentransformasikan pengetahuan kepada anak usia dini yang baik bagi perkembangan anak usia dini. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah sebagai bahan evaluasi dan masukan untuk perencanaan ke depan sekalipun pandemic sudah berakhir. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah pengabdian kepada masyarakat dengan melibatkan dua PAUD Mitra, di Indonesia dan Sekolah Indonesia di Luar Negeri (SILN) di Mekkah, dengan melibatkan staf sekolah dan perwakilan komite dari lembaga lain di sekitar kota Semarang. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa praktik terbaik dalam pembelajaran dari rumah dapat diupayakan jika ada kolaborasi guru dan orang tua. Kegiatan ini juga meningkatkan pemahaman para peserta FGD mengenai bagaimana praktik terbaik dalam bentuk kolaborasi guru dan orang tua selama pelaksanaan pembelajaran dari rumah dimana masing-masing pihak menjalankan peran terbaiknya. Abstract. Currently, it is certain that early childhood education around the world has made many changes and learning innovations with the Covid-19 pandemic which requires learning activities to shift from school to home. In contrast to 1 year ago, the education world seemed shocked and not ready for the sudden pandemic status and required the government to take a policy to close schools. The application of various learning strategies and teacher-parent communication is one solution to find the right ingredients in transforming knowledge to early childhood that is good for early childhood development. The purpose of this service activity is as an evaluation material and input for future planning even though the pandemic is over. The method in this research is community service by involving two PAUD Partners in Indonesia and Indonesian Schools Abroad (SILN) in Mecca, involving school staff and committee representatives from other institutions around the city of Semarang. The results show that best practice in learning from home can be pursued if there is collaboration between teachers and parents. This activity also increased the understanding of the FGD participants on how best practices are in the form of collaboration between teachers and parents during the implementation of learning from home where each party carries out its best role.
