Los sucesos naturales de carácter extraordinario que se han sucedido a lo largo de la historia han dejado tras de sí un gran legado documental. Fenómenos como los terremotos, las erupciones volcánicas, las sequías, las plagas, etc. han constituido desde siempre un motivo de preocupación para las poblaciones expuestas y una ocasión para desatar la imaginación de los cronistas. En el caso de la ciudad de Valencia, ningún fenómeno natural ha influido tanto en su historia como las avenidas recurrentes del río Turia. Una de ellas, la riada extraordinaria de septiembre de 1731, quedó registrada en documentos de todo tipo que pueden englobarse bajo la denominación común de literatura de la catástrofe. En este artículo se analizan cuatro relaciones impresas del suceso y dos dietarios personales manuscritos, en un intento de ampliar los datos conocidos del desastre y, sobre todo, de enmarcarlo en el contexto social y político en el que tuvo lugar. ; The natural events of extraordinary character that have happened along the history have stopped besides yes a great documentary legacy. La cartografía de agrimensura e hidrometría ha recibido poca atención en una historia de la cartografía basada tradicionalmente en el estudio de las grandes figuras y de los mapas y planos que realizaron. Sin embargo, se trata de una cartografía que sirvió de base a la realizada por los ingenieros militares, los arquitectos y los geógrafos y que, además de estar presente en el mundo judicial, acompañó a los grandes proyectos técnicos del siglo XVIII. En este artículo se defiende la necesidad de un enfoque contextual y sociológico de la historia de la cartografía que reivindique el trabajo de los colectivos de mapistas olvidados. Siguiendo este enfoque, se realiza una aproximación a los métodos de trabajo de los mapistas agrimensores y se estudia, a modo de ejemplo, la obra cartográfica del agrimensor valenciano Francisco Aparisi y Ferrandis. ; The cartography of survey and hydrometry has received few attentions in a history of the cartography based traditionally on the study of the big figures and of the maps and planes that they realized. Este artículo retoma el trabajo en Rey Don Felipe (Puerto del Hambre), dando continuidad a las investigaciones iniciadas hace medio siglo por el arqueólogo Omar Ortiz-Troncoso. Se resume el conocimiento histórico-arqueológico previo y se dan a conocer nuevos análisis estratigráficos, artefactuales y ecofactuales obtenidos a partir de prospecciones y excavaciones en el sitio entre los años 2019 y 2022. De este modo, se evalúan las conclusiones planteadas por distintos investigadores en torno a la relevancia del asentamiento, materialidades y ocupaciones identificadas. Se proponen cuatro ocupaciones principales en el asentamiento y se releva el potencial interpretativo de nuevas líneas de evidencia respecto de los procesos coloniales estudiados por la arqueología.
