This article considers the implications of migrant entrepreneurship education (MEEd) for sustainability and for the work of global adult educators. It will present some insights into the opportunities and challenges created by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the experience of running the Fresh Start MEEd programme. This programme, funded by the European Union (EU) in 2017-2019, brought together teams from three countries - the Netherlands, the United Kingdom (UK), and Belgium and involved three universities: Zuyd University of Applied Sciences (Maastricht), London South Bank University (LSBU); and University College Leuven Limburg (UCLL) in the province of Limburg, Belgium. The team found that there is no 'one size fits all' as each context and each community have differing starting points and needs. Central to this is an approach which is learner-centred, which enables participants' voices to be heard, and supports the co-creation of the programme. Education and learning are always a two-way process and migration offers us all a chance to learn from each other and to appreciate the rich resource of ideas and skills which migrants have to offer to communities. The first section of the article provides an overview of the implications of migration for sustainability and its relationship to delivery of the SDGs. Section two examines the Fresh Start migrant entrepreneurship programme as a model for working with adult refugees and migrants. It presents some of the opportunities and challenges for educators created by the SDGs. Section three provides illustrations from the work of the Fresh Start migrant entrepreneurship programme and section four considers some implications and ways forward.

Abstract This article will focus on the challenges of leadership and management of a key initiative of the 2005-2014 UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), namely the Regional Centres of Expertise in Education for Sustainability (RCEs). It will argue that in order to achieve sustainability, there is a need to move away from outdated hierarchical and technocratic models towards more flexible, democratic and empowering approaches to leadership.

Examination of the relationship of Japan & the World Bank with specific interest in analyzing how & to what degree the World Bank acts as an autonomous variable in the international system. Illustrates how Japan was able to change World Bank perception & policy toward East Asian development by following an independent path working with East Asian countries' development projects. Nevertheless, the World Bank is shown to continue to work autonomously as a major agent of development internationally. The East Asian Miracle: Economic Growth & Public Policy, a special 1993 study resulting from the Japan's request that the World Bank examine East & Southeast Asia, is examined here after reviewing the tension between Japan & the World Bank beginning in the 1980s & the process of preparing the study. It is concluded that the Bank's values & objectives are influenced & determined by world financial markets; the financial capital's owners, managers; & organizational structure & staff. While not taking direct orders from the US, this structure & set of values also represent US values & objectives, making the Bank less autonomous than it appears superficially. R. Rodriguez

Gender Matters opens the debate concerning violence in literature and the arts beyond a single national tradition and engages with multivalent aspects of both female and male gender constructs, mapping them onto depictions of violence. By defining a tight thematic focus and yet offering a broad disciplinary scope for inquiry, the present volume brings together a wide range of scholarly papers investigating a cohesive topic - gendered violence - from the perspectives of French, German, Italian, Spanish, English, and Japanese literature, history, musicology, art history, and cultural studies. It interrogates the intersection of gender and violence in the early modern period, cutting across national traditions, genres, media, and disciplines. By engaging several levels of discourse, the volume advances a holistic approach to understanding gendered violence in the early modern world. The convergence of discourses concerning literature, the arts, emerging print technologies, social and legal norms, and textual and visual practices leverages a more complex understanding of gender in this period. Through the unifying lens of gender and violence the contributions to this volume comprehensively address a wide scope of diverse issues, approaches, and geographies from late medieval Japan to the European Enlightenment. Many seventeenth-century German women writers have yet to be reclaimed by literary scholarship. Some women published anonymously, and some have not been recognized as the author of a given work. In many cases, texts are often unattributed, or even misattributed, often to a man. This unfortunate situation demonstrates that primary bibliographic research is an essential component of feminist scholarship of the Early Modern Period. Three Saxon sisters, Sophie Eleonore Landgravine of Hessen, Marie Elisabeth Duchess of Schleswig Holstein, and Magdalena Sibylle of Saxony, provide the focus of this micro-history, which both uncovers and recovers their published works. Examines the debt crisis in Asia from the neglected perspective that the East & Southeast Asian economies are different from those the IMF (International Monetary Fund) usually deals with. The traditional IMF method of "austerity" & "financial liberalization" will likely exacerbate Asia's debt crisis rather than relieve it. Asia's high debt model, "crony" capitalism, the risks of high debt levels, the 1997-1998 crisis, the IMF's intervention, conflicting goals, & debt & equity claims issues are reviewed before suggesting alternative ways to address the debt crisis including bankruptcy. Discussion of the overall objectives & approaches of the IMF & the movement of capital in Asia conclude the essay including a suggestion for a new Bretton Woods summit to assess trade liberalization policies & the movement of capital among countries with unequal economic development. The dynamic control properties of drivers and driver/vehicle systems in steering operations have been widely investigated. This paper presents a short review of the combined compensatory, pursuit, and precognitive features needed to describe the total properties of the driver as a controller. Specific combinations of these features are associated with particular driving maneuvers. Some recent results are presented to confirm previous hypotheses and more completely quantify the models. The driver-organized system structure for regulation control is reviewed with emphasis on the loops closed and adjustments made by the driver in compensating for vehicle dynamic changes. Pursuit structures are given which describe steering control with preview and as one explanation for lane change maneuvers. Precognitive behavior is then presented as the most skilled mode utilized in rapid lane changes and other well-practiced maneuvers including obstacle avoidance. For all three categories of control, full-scale or simulator data are presented as indications of model verification.
