International audience ; This second volume of the Presence of the Prophet series engages with the task to analyse the significance of the figure of the Prophet and of those who have claimed his material or spiritual heritage as leader or saviour, for questions of power, authority and individual and collective self-empowerment in the early modern and modern periods. The articles of this volume go back to a workshop in Bochum on the (The Prophet and the Modern State - May 2018) and to a colloquium held in Marrakesh (The Prophet and his Heritage - November 2018) where they were presented and discussed for the first time.
