This paper presents a qualitative study exploring the concept of esprit de corps in prison officers (POs), through the interpretative lens of Social Identity Theory. The study relies on semi-structured interviews conducted with 26 POs working in Italian correctional facilities. Thematic analyses on the resulting data enabled us to identify POs' esprit de corps as a complex and multidimensional construct that influences both their social identification with their professional group and their interpersonal relationships with members of their ingroup and outgroup. Findings from this study suggest that POs' esprit de corps is a fundamental component of day-to-day prison life, taking effect on the symbolic and relational levels, fostering loyalty and cohesion among ingroup members, and contrast with members of the outgroup. We conclude that examining esprit de corps as a construct can give an important contribution to our criminological and sociological knowledge.

This article presents a study on consequences of the Italian prison health care reform in rela-tion to the issue of prisoners' continuity of care. The research relies on qualitative data collected through semi-structured interviews conducted with 25 health care professionals working in eight prison facilities in northern Italy. From data analysis three themes particularly relevant for the research question emerged. The first theme concerns the difficulties in managing the specific needs of detained patients; the second concerns the role of the National Healthcare System for the most vulnerabilized prisoners; and the last explore the relationship between prison and local health services after prison release. Results highlight some critical issues in the treatment of detained patients and in the relationship between prisons and local health ser-vices. The role of this issues in hindering continuity of care for the prison population are critically discussed.

Il pensiero femminista, fin dalle sue origini, è sempre stato ostacolato da retoriche politiche, religiose e sociali reazionarie fermamente intenzionate a mantenere una narrazione egemone dei ruoli di genere. In contrapposizione alla creazione e al mantenimento di rigidi modelli basati su ideologie e teorizzazioni che vorrebbero la donna "moglie, madre e angelo del focolare", è emersa anche una particolare forma di pensiero femminista, di matrice fortemente essenzialista, nota come pensiero della differenza sessuale. Il pensiero della differenza sessuale, teorizzato dalla filosofa e psicoanalista Luce Irigaray (1985), e che annovera Luisa Muraro e Adriana Cavarero (1987) tra le sue massime esponenti italiane, trova elementi di conciliazione tra il pensiero femminista e il credo cristiano cattolico, generalmente separati in maniera radicale. Con questa ricerca abbiamo voluto esplorare le tematiche della corporeità, della fede e della concezione del femminismo in catechiste e femministe, per avviare un dibattito su quelli che sono gli attuali posizionamenti delle rappresentanti delle due parti in analisi.

Feminist thought, since its origins, has always been hampered by political, religious and social reactionary rhetoric determined to maintain a hegemonic narrative of gender roles. A strongly essentialist form of feminist thought, known as the sexual difference theory, emerged in contrast to the creation and maintenance of rigid models based on ideologies and theories defining the woman as "wife, mother and angel of the hearth". The sexual difference theory, theorized by Luce Irigaray, philosopher and psychoanalyst (1985), includes Luisa Muraro and Adriana Cavarero (1987) among its highest Italian representatives. This theory presents elements of reconciliation between feminist thought and Christian Catholic beliefs, generally radically separated. AbstractThe normalization of gender-based violence (GBV) consists of all those cultural beliefs and values that sustain, justify, or minimize GBV perpetration. Acknowledging the lack of instruments addressing the normalization of GBV and its constitutive sociocultural dimensions, this article presents the conceptual development and initial validation of the Normalization of gender-based violence against women scale. This 18-item instrument could be used to assess the normalization of violence against women in GBV survivors of various cultural contexts. The scale has been developed through a sizeable mixed-methods study. This paper reports the qualitative portion of the study that allowed the development of the instrument and assessment of its content and face validity. In particular, the method section details the process by which the assessed scale's domain has been identified through an expert panel workshop, the analysis of GBV survivor's interviews, and the review of existing scales. The assessment of face and content validity, trough expert judges' evaluation and Cognitive Interviewing, is presented. This instrument is the first normalization scale developed by a multicultural team for use with violence survivors. The techniques used to construct this scale aimed to capture cultural aspects of normalization that might be shared across women from diverse groups. Therefore, its use could enable social or health care providers worldwide to program or evaluate the effectiveness of interventions to contrast GBV by promoting a clearer understanding of cultural and social norms that sustain the acceptance and normalization of violence.
