The subsequent volume revolves around the Social-Fields-Approach (SOFIA) as anapproach to conceptualization and operationalisation for the purpose of empiricalresearch. It contributes a new perspective and approach in research on innovation. We believe that SOFIA can have implications for both academic research and practicalapplications in reshaping the existing instruments and governance arrangementsin innovation policy. Whilst applying SOFIA, we urge researchers to leveragethe plurality of different qualitative, quantitative and mixed-method approachesin innovation studies, including less conventional methods, such as QCA (Ragin,2008). Diligent application of SOFIA can also subsequently lead to the developmentof high-level theoretical contributions.

"The subject of this book is the complex and controversial issues of the implementation of the EU's grand strategies, with a particular interest in the developmental success of the newest members of the European Union, the former post-socialist societies. The European Union implementation deficit has become proverbial failure, a phenomenon that is the subject of intense interest by researchers and is a concern for policymakers. While the impact of Europe 2020 has yet to be researched in greater detail, existing work is revealing substantial differences in implementation among the Member States, especially along the divisions between North and West on one hand and East and South on the other. Using the Cultural Political Economy as the theoretical background, the central focus of our interest is the study of possibilities and limitations of strategic steering of the economic development in the context of a comprehensive societal development, such as the Europe 2020 intention of achieving 'smart, inclusive and sustainable growth.'"

PREVALENCE OF DIFFERENT FORMS OF VIOLENCE AGAINST ROMA WOMEN IN ROMA FAMILIES IN ISOLATED ROMA SETTLEMENTS ON THE TERRITORY OF MEĐIMURJE COUNTY ABSTRACT The subject of the research was the prevalence of various forms of violence against Roma women living in isolated Roma settlements in Međimurje County. The research was conducted by one-time research on the type of so-called draft »cross-section« at one point in time (spring 2020.) by survey method and on a random, proportional, stratified sample of 350 Roma women from 12 isolated Roma settlements in Međimurje County. There was a very high prevalence of exposure to all forms of domestic violence against women among Romani women, with 69,1% of Romani women surveyed saying they had experienced at least one form of violence (physical, psychological, sexual, and/or economic) at least once in their lives. By analyzing the collected responses on exposure to certain forms from each of the four groups of violence, new variables were formed by isolating all those Roma women who at least once or more often over time, and at least once experienced at least one form from each violence group. 61.,7% of Romani women have been exposed to some form of psychological violence at least once in their lives, 50.,3% of Romani women have been exposed to some form of physical violence at least once in their lives, 22.,3% of Romani women have been exposed to some form of economic violence at least once in their lives and to some form of sexual violence have been exposed 17.,1% of Roma women have been exposed to some form of sexual violence. The results showed that Romani women are extremely vulnerable due to the presence of several risk factors that go far beyond belonging to an ethnic minority or any other minority group. Key words: Roma women; Međimurje; gender violence; violence against women.

The book presents a model of the major factors of developmental performance, their inter-relations and effects that are supposed to generate sustained societal development. They include cultural traditions, social capital, cognitive mobilization, quality of governance, entrepreneurial spirit, social cohesion and openness toward international environments. These factors are measured by many empirical indicators; the data are presented for the old and new members of the European Union as well as the other European nations. The significance of the factors in the model is both tested and confirmed using the fuzzy set analysis. Successful accomplishment of institutional reforms is necessary but not sufficient condition for system competitiveness. The results imply that broader socio-cultural factors discussed in the book are necessary: a country can only embark on positive developmental trends if all factors are present simultaneously, since cumulative effect and synergy are required
