Mit Beiträgen vonElżbieta Opiłowska, Jochen Roose, Zbigniew Kurcz, Dariusz Wojakowski, Ulrike Kaden, Raphael Bossong, Domink Gerst, Imke Kerber, Maria Klessmann, Hannes Krämer, Peter Ulrich, Hans-Joachim Bürkner, Andrzej Sadowski, Martin Klatt, Jarosław Jańczak, Bartosz Czepil, Wojciech Opioła, Tadeusz Popławski, Renata Kusiak-Winter, Izabela Bal, Sylwia Dołzbłasz, Kamilla Dolińska, Julita Makaro, Natalia Niedźwiecka-Iwańczak, Andrzej Sakson, Krzysztof Wojciechowski, Bogusław Grużewski, Simonas Šabanovas, Irena Szlachcicowa, Katarzyna Stokłosa, Anna Śliz, Marek S. Examining the ongoing processes of migration in Europe and beyondCase studies focusing on Europe, Russia, the Middle East, and South AmericaIntegrates issues of current migration and boundary-making processesVarious experts discussing social and political factors pertaining to current dynamics of migration and boundary-making in different cultural settingsSociological and political analyses of current trends in transnational migration and reborderingBrings together studies from different continentsThis book deals with the ongoing processes of migration and boundary-(re)making in Europe and other parts of the world. It takes stock of recent and hitherto unpublished research on the refugee crisis in Europe, migration dynamics in the Middle East and migration flows in Africa and Latin America, specifically in relation to their political, social and cultural framing. In particular, chapters in this collection focus on newer cases of transnational migration and their socio-political implications. Alongside the refugee and migrant crisis in Europe, which can be seen as one of the most divisive political issues in recent European history, new patterns of migration and re-bordering can also be seen across Europe, the Middle East and beyond. These include both the rise of anti-immigration populism within the nation-states and practices of discouraging migration at the regional level such as the EU

European identification has been previously explained by the selective gains brought by the European integration process, by personal transnational experiences and by the influence of political programs aiming at increasing levels of identification. All these explanations imply that identification with one's continent would be specific in extent and distribution across the social structure in comparison to other continents. These implicit assumptions of the discussion are tested with a global comparison using International Social Service Programme (ISSP) data and a longitudinal analysis using Eurobarometer data. The results show that, firstly, the current extent of continental identification in Europe is not higher than in other continents. Secondly, they reveal that there has been no increase in European identification in recent decades and thirdly, group comparing structural equation modeling (SEM) shows, that distribution of continental identification is similar on all continents. Accordingly, explaining European identification with respect to policy output of the EU is questioned by the findings. European identification proves to be independent of European political integration. Conclusions for transnational identity research and the European integration process are discussed.

Though much has been written about the Green Party in Germany, less is known about the changes in individuals' attitudes towards the environment that led to the rise of environmental movement, or of its cultural roots. This volume draws attention to the breadth of environmentalism in contemporary Germany and its significance for German political culture by focusing on the treatment of "green" issues in literature, the media and film, against the background of Green politics and the environmental movement. The volume includes an interview with Carl Amery, the Bavarian Green and science fiction writer, a short text by him and an account of his activities as writer and campaigner
