Since 2010 Lithuania is a State Party of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of the United Nations. The development of education policy in Lithuania as concerns the right to inclusive education for children with disabilities is analysed as well as the factual trends of education of children with disabilities in segregated and regular educational settings.

"Help me to decide": the role of the social worker in assisting people with intellectual disabilities in supported decision-making ; "Padėk man nuspręsti": socialinio darbuotojo vaidmuo teikiant pagalbą intelekto negalią turintiems asmenims priimant sprendimus
Decision-making is the basis of individual autonomy, allowing a person to control his or her life and to engage in society. Supported decision-making is an evolving model that complies with Article 12 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and allows for the maintenance of autonomy of decision-making for people with disabilities. The question of this study – what environmental conditions and social support measures assist individuals with intellectual disabilities to make their own decisions? The aim of the study is to reveal the ways based on human rights of social worker support for people with intellectual disabilities in expressing their will and making decisions. A qualitative methodology, a strategy of participatory action research, and a participant observation methodology have been applied. The participants of the survey are 26 adults with intellectual disabilities. The thematic analysis was used to analyse the data obtained. The study revealed the need to provide the necessary assistance to individuals with intellectual disabilities in making their own decisions. Social workers can play a significant role in this process by providing legal and methodological tools. Research has shown that an organisational environment that respects human dignity, an equivalent relationship with a disabled person, and conscious social worker attitude and self-reflection are important factors in supported decision-making. It has been revealed that the help of a social worker may be necessary and useful in various stages of decision-making: at times of formulating and expressing a person's wish or opinion, searching for related information or alternatives, at a time of self-determination, and in implementing the choice ; Straipsnyje pristatoma pagalbos priimant sprendimus intelekto negalią turintiems asmenims mechanizmo kūrimo autentiška patirtis ir eksperimentinis modelis taikant veiklos tyrimo dalyvaujant strategiją.

An Educational Response to the Issue of Online Pornography for Schoolboys: The Case of Participatory Action Research in Lithuania
In: International Journal of Social Pedagogy, Band 3, Heft 1
ISSN: 2051-5804
The rapid rise of online pornography has become a real challenge for educators dealing with the daily use of online pornography amongst schoolboys. Many researchers stress that online pornography has become a significant factor in gender socialization, reinforcing traditional constructions of men's power over women in terms of hierarchy, objectification, submission and violence. There is a lack of educational discourse on how schools react or otherwise respond to the use of online pornography. In this paper, the case of participatory action research, implemented in one Lithuanian school, is presented as an educational approach for critical consciousness education of schoolboys with regards to online pornography. The outset of critical consciousness education is the students' own experiences and lifeworlds wherein students and educators can jointly recognize and challenge the oppressed subjectivities and oppressive circumstances.
"Pradžią turi kurti pats" ; "Everything depends on you": disabled students' participation in Lithuanian higher education institutions

The lithuanian national legislation guarantees equal opportunities for disabled people to study in higher education institutions. however, in practice disabled students face various problems and barriers while pursuing their education. using anthony Giddens's structuration theory and the paradigm of social participation, this article presents some data from rūta ruolytė-Verschoore's doctoral research. to analyze 32 semi-structured interviews with disabled students actively involved in leadership activities, the author uses grounded theory. The research results demonstrate that students with disabilities encounter the following obstacles in the lithuanian higher education institutions: a lack of access to physical and informational environment, a lack of flexibility in study organization process, the absence of special services and academic community's skeptical attitude towards their abilities to study. The research also shows that civically engaged disabled students orient their strategies of action towards changing academic community's attitudes and making study organization process more flexible. as a consequence of disabled students' actions and interactions, study routine and institutional practices in higher education institutions start to change and become more inclusive and flexible.

What Does It Mean to Be a Prostitute?: A Lived Personal Experience of Women in Prostitution
In: Pensée plurielle: parole, pratiques et réflexions du social, Band 27, Heft 2, S. 111-139
ISSN: 1782-1479
