Technological innovations, including artificial intelligence (AI), are progressively being integrated into marketing and branding. However, the novel nature of these technologies often shrouds their potential benefits and associated risks. This holds also true for the implementation of AI in the domain of brand voices. Brand voices may play a crucial role in fostering human-like brand perception (brand anthropomorphism), potentially offering competitive advantages for companies. However, the integration of AI in shaping brand voices in an advertising context remains a relatively unexplored area. This study addresses this gap by examining the impact of pre-recorded and AI-generated synthetic brand voices on brand anthropomorphism and brand equity. Conducted through a 3 × 2 online experiment the study shows that both pre-recorded and synthetic brand voices positively influence brand anthropomorphism. Additionally, brand anthropomorphism emerges as a strong mediator between brand voices and brand equity. Notably, the positive effects persist even when the synthetic brand voice is disclosed as being AI-generated. Theoretical and practical implications of these findings are derived.

Purpose: Drawing on the example of car manufacturer Tesla and its early investor Elon Musk, the purpose of this paper is to explore the connection between the personal communication activities of influential entrepreneurs on social media, the emergence of parasocial interactions (PSIs) and the related communication outcomes for the company. Design/methodology/approach: This paper conducted an online survey, recruiting 207 participants via purposive sampling. Partial least square path modeling and an independent t-test were conducted to test hypotheses. Findings: The results of this paper show that following entrepreneurs' personal social media activities amplifies PSIs, which in turn positively impact the company's communication outcomes. Organization-public relationships and purchase intentions are improved by PSI. Originality/value: To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is one of the first studies that connects the personal and the organizational level in exploring entrepreneurial marketing. The results show that Elon Musk acts as an influential entrepreneur to effectively promote communication outcomes for Tesla. This paper illuminates the potential of entrepreneurs' personal social media activities to support the success of their ventures.

In a changing world, consumers' expectations of business corporations are growing. Thus, numerous firms are taking a stand on societal challenges, a phenomenon known as brand activism. In contrast to corporate social responsibility (CSR), brand activism tends to polarise. For this reason, companies that engage in brand activism risk damage to their brand equity due to potentially negative consumer responses. Against this background, the aim of this study is to compare the impact of brand activism and CSR on brand equity. For this purpose, we conducted an online experiment (n = 215) and noted a positive impact of brand activism on brand equity. The impact, however, was not greater than that achieved through CSR. Moderation analyses revealed gender effects on behavioural intentions. We derive the theoretical and managerial implications from these conclusions. This paper seeks to explore how BA, in comparison with CSR, affects brand equity.

Computer generated virtual influencers are currently one of the most important brand
communication trends driven by artificial intelligence. While numerous studies on human
social media influencers already exist, the field of virtual influencers is still largely
unexplored, which is especially true regarding their impact on consumer perceptions.
Against this background, the aim of this study is to empirically investigate consumer
perceptions of virtual influencers in comparison to traditional social media influencers.
We conduct an exploratory experiment to test the effect of virtual and human influencers
on credibility, competence, likability, and purchase intentions. The results show no
significant differences between virtual and human influencers, except for the variable
likeability. Implications for management and future research are discussed.
