In 2016, Spain monopolized press coverage worldwide due to the political-institutional crisis caused by unprecedented electoral fragmentation. On January 13, the shortest legislative term ever began and was the starting point of a crisis that meant a year without government. This article explores the image that the world press provided regarding these events and their influence on international public opinion. This research is organized in two phases. The first measures the presence of Spain in the world's written press through an analysis of quantitative content. The second phase analyses the information on the political and institutional crisis using a sample of 1,127 articles published in 17 newspapers of reference. The main conclusion is that the world information on Spain in 2016 focused on the political crisis, but in addition to parliamentary deadlock, its causes and its consequences, other issues were emerging as central themes as well, such as the problem of corruption, the crisis of the PSOE (Spanish Socialist Workers' Party), and the independence movement in Catalonia. Despite this situation, the image of Spain does not seem to have deteriorated according to the country brand indexes reviewed. ; Resumen. En 2016 España acaparó portadas de todo el mundo debido a la crisis político-institucional provocada por una fragmentación electoral inédita. El 13 de enero comenzaba la legislatura más corta y era el punto de inicio de una crisis que implicó un año sin gobierno. En este artículo se explora la imagen que la prensa mundial ofreció sobre estos acontecimientos y su influencia sobre la opinión pública internacional. La investigación se organiza en dos fases, la primera mide la presencia de España en la prensa escrita mundial mediante un análisis de contenido cuantitativo. La segunda fase analiza la información sobre la crisis política e institucional en una muestra de 1.127 artículos publicados en 17 periódicos de referencia. La principal conclusión es que la información mundial sobre España en 2016 se centra en la crisis política, pero además del bloqueo parlamentario, sus causas y consecuencias, emergen como temas centrales la corrupción, la crisis del PSOE y el proceso independentista en Cataluña. A pesar de ello, la imagen de España no parece haberse deteriorado según los índices de marca país consultados.

Ideas fuel power, giving means, understanding and arguments to the public sphere. Think tanks are the most influential actors in creating and disseminating such ideas in the field of international relations. This article analyses the networks of relations among think tanks in order better to understand their nature and the ways in which they operate in a global reality, organized by geographical areas. The research method is by structural analysis, using raw data collected on Twitter. Most of the think tanks selected are those categorized by the gotothinktank.com study. The main conclusions are that English is the predominant language, that geography still matters in influencing ideas and that us-based think tanks lead the social media conversation.
