; In a neoliberal economic context, it takes place an important development of real estate projects in the Central Urban Macrozone of Chile (Hidalgo et al., 2014a; 2014b), on the coast of the Valparaíso Region, which have affected to the community of landowners of three spas in this area. These communities have articulated methodologies of resistance from the judiciary, due to the vulnerability of local land use planning instruments. From an informative description of the situation of three coastal towns – Isla Negra, Tunquén and Ritoque –, this work propose a review of the forms of opposition to the implementation of these projects, the organization of communities, and the fragilities on planning of the coastline. The situation analysis, current literature on urban coastline and reading the scope of the legislation in the spatial planning, are used to describe the subject matter of this paper. Finally, this work offer alternatives to categorize the actors in conflict, in addition to questions focused on subsequent critical analysis. International audience ; The XIth region (Aysen del General Carlos Ibañez del Campo) is in Chile a space in a relative geographical isolation : the traditional communications (roads, airports) are little developed and in structuralization. The modern communication tools (telephone, internet) are still in the embryonic state. In this context, the isolation is lived as a major constraint the effects of which affect all the fields of the economic, social and environmental reality. The current population is concentrated essentially in some urban poles which gather 80% of the population. The remaining 20% live in even more remote areas, mountain valleys and islands. The isolation in these sites is even more obvious. The inhabitants develop, there, activities connected essentially to fishing and to extensive breeding. At stakes for these populations are the vital questions of the preservation of their activities and the recognition of their specificities, which certainly depend on a regional recognition and new means of communications. The subject of this research is to study the question of the isolation in the most geographically remote sectors (fjords, islands and mountain valleys) through the analysis of the perception of these remote population and public and political actors in Aysen. The study analyzes the assets and constraints associated with remoteness, and concludes on the stakes and perspectives of these peripheral areas and their population.

In democracies around the world, societies have demonstrated that elections can have major consequences for the environment. In Colombia, the 2022 presidential elections will take place at a time when progress towards peace has stalled and socioeconomic, security, and environmental conditions have deteriorated. The recent declines in these conditions largely coincide with the change of government after the 2018 elections, and the associated rise to power of a party that boycotted the peace negotiations from the beginning. These indicators suggest that 2018 marked the end of a decade of improvements in safety, wealth, and equality-societal factors that can interact with the environment in multiple ways. A spike in assassinations of land and environmental defenders in 2019 and 2020 made Colombia one of the most dangerous places in the world for environmentalists. With the 2022 presidential election, Colombians will once again decide who will govern the country and what new social, economic, and environmental policies will be implemented. In preparation for elections like this, we believe that it is important for scientists with relevant backgrounds to highlight relationships between political events and the environment, to enrich the political debate, help prioritize public resources, and inform policymaking. Here, we provide a multidisciplinary analysis of different socioeconomic and environmental trends that can help inform the public and decision-makers. We intend for this analysis to be useful not only in Colombia, but also to other societies under similar situations, managing biodiversity-rich ecosystems in sociopolitical environments of increasing violence, poverty, and inequality.
