This article focuses on Grotius's treatment of obligations arising from wrongdoing in his Inleidinge. The work has clear parallels with the natural law formulation of the same topic in De Jure Belli ac Pacis, and this article explores the extent of the similarities. It focuses on points of divergence, suggesting that the theoretical coherence of the natural law approach to obligations arising from wrongdoing was challenged primarily by extant legislative enactments. These provided either for region-specific doctrines, or rules that proved difficult to reconcile with the underlying principles of natural law, especially the primacy of fault. While much of the Inleidinge's treatment of liability arising from wrongdoing is consonant with Grotius' approach to the topic in De Jure Belli ac Pacis, these discrete points of dissimilarity serve as a reminder of the limits of theoretical accounts of private law.

The attitudes of 4,585 pupils in 27 New South Wales secondary schools to four aspects of school life (school in general, choice of subjects, discipline, and uniforms) were examined in relation to sex, form, and type of school. Marked sex differences in attitudes were obtained, with the girls generally showing more favourable attitudes to school than the boys. Differences in attitudes between forms were found which suggested that pupils tend to reject school values with increased age. Differences between types of schools classified on the basis of geographical location and whether single sex or coeducational did not show clear cut trends. Possible reasons for the findings are discussed as well as the educational implications of the direction and level of pupil opinion about the topics investigated.

To increase access to services, a non-profit, voluntary health agency was developed to provide on-site services to residents of hotels and night shelters in the Skid Road area of Portland, Oregon. From a hotel-based clinic site, volunteer physicians, nurses, and medical students make house calls. During the first 18 months, 1,184 evaluations were made, and 21 hotels and two shelters visited. Volunteers were well accepted by residents and served as members of case management teams. The additional benefits of such a program vis-a-vis extension of local government's mission and student education are discussed.
