Territories are a human construction, which appears as people inhabit them. In other words, they are generated by the existence of societies, when they transform geographies into their own habitats. Thus, both public and private actors have a chance to organize their communications, interactions and conflicts with the purpose of fulfilling their own needs and desires. As such, they concur with general concepts of social science and governance as a scenario for making public decisions, as well as for productivity and competitiveness as fundamental variables of private actions and deliberate public actions, which usually develop into development policies, consensus by agents, as well as public and private agencies in pursuit of a common goal. On this basis, this paper seeks to formulate an academic space that intends to contribute to an integrated and sustainable human development in a perspective that assumes social change, respect for the fragile ecosystem balance, and the basis of sustainability of social and economic processes from the perspective of the government and the social responsibilities of companies and citizens. ; Los territorios son una construcción humana, aparecen en la medida en que las personas los habitan, es decir, se dan a partir de la existencia de las sociedades, cuando estas transforman las geografías en sus hábitats. Así, los actores públicos y privados tienen posibilidades de organizar sus comunicaciones, interacciones y conflictos en la pretensión de resolver sus necesidades y deseos. A ello concurren con conceptos generales de las ciencias sociales, la gobernabilidad y gobernanza como escenario de las decisiones públicas, la productividad y competitividad como variables fundamentales del accionar privado y las acciones públicas deliberadas, las cuales generalmente se convierten en políticas para el desarrollo, consensos de los agentes y agencias públicas y privadas en procura de un objetivo común. Sobre esta base, con este documento se busca formular un espacio académico que pretende aportar al desarrollo humano integral y sustentable, en una perspectiva que asume el cambio social, el respeto por los frágiles equilibrios ecosistémicos y la base de sustentabilidad de los procesos económicos y sociales desde la perspectiva del gobierno y las responsabilidades sociales de empresas y ciudadanos.

ResumenLas relaciones internacionales muestran, no sólo cambios fundamentales en sus paradigmas explicativos, también un comportamiento muy dinámico en sus actores tradicionales y los emergentes, en razón al acceso a la información derivada de las nuevas condiciones tecnológicas. Estos han transitado de un liberalismo clásico a un neoestructuralismo y neoliberalismo hasta una "sociedad internacional". En estos espacios también se redefinieron negocios, esquemas de aplicación de la democracia como modo de vida, además de la tradicional concepción política. En este ensayo se busca hacer un estado del arte del pensamiento en torno a estos problemas de naciones, sociedades e individuos en la actual fase de la globalización.AbstractInternational relations show, not only fundamental changes in their explanatory paradigms, also a dynamic behavior in their traditional and emerging players, due to access to information derived from the new technological conditions.These have shifted from classical liberalism to neo-structuralism and neo-liberalism to an "international society".These spaces also redefined business, layout implementation of democracy as a way of life, besides the traditional concept of politics.In this essay we want to do a state of the art of thinking about these problems of nations, societies and individuals in the current phase of globalization.

La teoría económica neoinstitucional argumenta que el desempeño económico de un territorio es influido por el papel de sus instituciones; sin embargo, las evidencias de tales estudios se han validado casi exclusivamente a partir de agrupación de países. El presente artículo explora la relación de diferentes variables institucionales formales e informales con el desempeño económico y la tasa de crecimiento del Producto Interno Bruto para los territorios subnacionales (departamentos) en Colombia. Se utilizan correlaciones para conocer el nivel de asociación entre variables institucionales con el crecimiento económico. Los resultados empíricos muestran una serie de variables institucionales que guardan relación estadísticamente significativa con el comportamiento económico subnacional, lo que demuestra el papel de las reglas de juego desde los territorios.

In recent years, most Latin American countries have committed themselves, implicitly or explicitly, to achieving universal provision of a good-quality basic secondary education. Despite the diversity of the situations to be found in the region, it is possible to see that what this commitment means for each of these countries is having to cope simultaneously with educational deficiencies inherited from the past -primarily, incomplete coverage that leaves some adolescents outside the system- and the new challenges raised by the exigencies of change in the organization of work, culture and citizenship. Este artículo busca poner en evidencia cómo, tras una fase de crisis y desintegración social y política que afectó a los actores representativos en la Argentina hacia el 2001/2002, el gobierno de Néstor Kirchner (2003-2007) fue capaz de revertir este proceso. Sin embargo, esta reconfiguración de la escena política argentina, estuvo marcada por fuertes tensiones que interpelaron y modificaron el posicionamiento de muchos de los actores sociales y políticos intervinientes. Por ende, resulta necesario focalizar en las dinámicas que adquieren las principales coyunturas políticas durante el período 2003-2007, para reconocer cuáles son los actores intervinientes y en qué medida su reposicionamiento colaboró u obstaculizó en la configuración del poder político del presidente. ; This article aims to highlight how, after a phase of crisis and social and political disintegration affecting representative players in Argentina, the government of Néstor Kirchner (2003-2007) was able to reverse this process. However, this reconfiguration was marked by strong tensions and conflicts that modified the positioning of many of the social and political actors involved. Abstract
Using data on a trust game played in six Latin American cities, we estimate the relationship between religious participation with trust and reciprocity. We find no association with trust but we do find a statistically significant relation with reciprocity. Individuals more active in religious organizations tend to reciprocate more than individuals who participate less, even though their trustiness on others is about the same as that of less religiously active people.
