Kundenorientierung, Partizipation und Respekt sind inzwischen anerkannte Leitbegriffe einer zeitgemäßen Sozialarbeit. Es fehlt jedoch immer noch an methodisch durchdachten und praktisch erprobten Anleitungen, sich auf eine professionelle Weise und nicht lediglich moralisch, rhetorisch oder intuitiv auf die damit notwendig gewordenen Veränderungen einzulassen. In dieser Lage ist Kreativität und Fantasie gefordert, einerseits die neuen Organisationsformen auch mit einem anderen Denken zu beleben, andererseits die praktische Arbeit mit den Klienten aus der paternalistischen Falle zu befreien. In ganz verschiedener Weise geht es den Beiträgen darum, die Beziehung zum Klienten nicht um das Defizit herum zu gestalten, das vielleicht der Anlass für diese Beziehung war, sondern die Kompetenzen, Ressourcen und Stärken der Klienten zu aktivieren. Es wird über originelle und bisher wenig bekannte Methoden und Projekte berichtet, und zwar von Autorinnen und Autoren, die für ihre Sache leben. Wegen dieser Realitätsnähe seiner Beiträge kann der vorliegende Band in besonderer Weise für Studium und Weiterbildung anregen sowie konkrete Hilfestellungen für die praktische Arbeit geben.

Das Werk bildet eine grundlegende Einführung in die wichtigsten organisationstheoretischen Konzepte. Die Kapitel liefern neben dem eigentlichen Werk Informationen zur Person und zum zeitgeschichtlichen Hintergrund des Ansatzes. Anhand zahlreicher Originalzitate wird über die übliche Darstellung von Organisationsansätzen hinaus ein Einblick in die Denk- und Argumentationsweise des jeweiligen Autors gewährt. Zusätzliche Arbeitsboxen am Ende der Kapitel erleichtern die Integration des Materials in die Lehre.

To Romantics the principle of life, its mystery and power, propelled a desire to 'see into the life of things' as William Wondsworth articulated it. This article examines how the relationship between life and non-life, the animate and the inanimate, humans and things, took on a new inflection in Romanticism, which differed in radical ways from the pragmatic and economic relationship between persons and things in the 18th century. In Romanticism, the threshold between living and dead matter came to linger between divinity and monstrosity. In Denmark, Hans Christian Andersen had few rivals when it came to articulating associations between humans and things. This article narrows the scope of Andersen's vivifications to one specific subset: marionettes, dolls and automatons, asking how his surrogates operated vis-à-vis Heinrich von Kleist's, E. T. A. Hoffman's and Mary Shelley's. Each of these authors drew on the hyper-mimetic relationship that dolls, marionettes and automatons have to humans: Kleist used marionettes to examine consciousness through unconsciousness; Hoffmann used automatons to articulate the uncanny; and Shelley used agolem-like monster to ponder the ethics of man's quests for generative powers. Andersen, in contrast, used dolls, marionettes and automatons in order to speak about social beings.'

This study focuses on the relationship between informal relationships, work ethics and (short‐time) absenteeism. According to self‐categorisation theory, which elaborates on the social identity theory, hypotheses were formulated for the relationship between consensus in work ethics within teams, informal relationships (cohesiveness) and short‐term absenteeism. The hypotheses were tested within two Dutch organisations: study 1 concerns a housing corporation (n=53, eight teams), and study 2 concerns a nursing home (n=97, nine teams). As expected, consensus in work ethics and cohesiveness within a team were positively related. Results from multi‐level analyses showed as expected, a negative relationship between cohesiveness within a team and short‐term absenteeism of employees. Furthermore, an interaction‐effect was found in the first study, but not in the second: the more cohesive the team, the stronger the relationships between work ethics and short‐term absenteeism. Findings are discussed in terms of recommendations for further research and practical implications.
