Purpose: The article deals with the research activities and interests of Vladimir Mikhailovich Khvostov, which were quite diverse. After analyzing numerous historiographical and archival sources, as well as available literature on this topic, it will be advisable to identify three areas of scientific interests of the scientist. Methodology: The History of diplomacy and international relations; problems of General and national history (mainly the events of world wars); and the tasks of pedagogical science in General (including historical education). In any of the three presented topics of the study V. M. Khvostov managed to prove himself as a teacher, historian, and organizer of science. Results: Vladimir Mikhailovich Khvostov studied relations between the world's leading powers, military clashes, and diplomatic history. However, the creative contribution of this scientist has not yet been the subject of special consideration. The article marks the contribution made by Academician Khvostov Vladimir Mikhailovich in the Pugwash movement, his reports, and talks at international congresses and conferences. Applications: This research can be used for universities, teachers, and students. Novelty/Originality: This paper analyzes numerous historiographical and archival sources and available literature on the research activities and interests of Vladimir Mikhailovich Khvostov in the context of the History of diplomacy and international relations.

Khvostov, characterization and evolution of his approaches and views on the history of international relations, foreign policy. A prominent organizer and theorist in the field of pedagogical Sciences, academician Vladimir Mikhailovich Khvostov played a significant role in the formation of the Academy of pedagogical Sciences of the USSR – the all-Union center of pedagogical thought. As its first President, he paid great attention to the development and improvement of the system of humanitarian education in the school, taking into account all the tasks and requirements imposed by the practice of Communist construction in our country. In his reports and speeches at various scientific sessions and conferences, he repeatedly emphasized the exceptional importance of social Sciences in the training of not only educated girls and boys, but also in the formation of politically literate youth.

Se investiga la correlación y el mecanismo de interacción de la voluntad del acusado y el principio de adversarialismo. Los amplios poderes del acusado, que le permiten influir efectivamente en la actividad procesal penal, adquieren una importancia práctica adecuada solo en condiciones de competencia, que debido a la igualdad de las partes, actúa como una forma de organizar y llevar a cabo procesos penales. Al mismo tiempo, la expresión de voluntad se convierte en el principal medio para defender la posición del acusado en un caso penal y proteger los derechos e intereses legítimos.

The present study is devoted to the investigation of the intensity of research and development importance in Russian Federation and EU. The authors selected economics of EU and Russian Federation countries as the object of the study. The subject of research is the intensity of research and development in Russian Federation and EU in the context of the priority sectors: state sector, scientific sector, business sector. In the given article the authors consider the semantic definition of «the intensity of research and development», the dynamics of research intensity indicators and development in Russia and EU, the authors' assessment of the choice of priorities for research and development sectors is also given. According to the results of the study authors indicated the problem zone, discussion points and priorities for the further research. During the Cold War, defectors from the Russian Intelligence Services to the West were of critical importance. They exposed and neutralised hundreds of Soviet agents who had penetrated government departments and democratic institutions. Stretching from Anatoli Granovsky in 1946 to Oleg Gordievsky in 1985, these Soviet defectors were highly prized for the intelligence they provided to security services. Ranked amongst the most valuable at the time was Vladimir Mikhailovich Petrov, who defected in Sydney in 1954. Yet he, almost alone, has overwhelmingly been cast by commentators and historians as lazy, inefficient, and incompetent. This article will offer an alternative interpretation of Petrov. My argument has three prongs. First, Petrov's contact with Russian individuals and pro‐Soviet political organisations in Australia was far more extensive than generally assumed. Second, contrary to the historiographical consensus, he withheld intelligence about his contacts and informants from his security service debriefers. Third, rather than Petrov seeing espionage as too dangerous, as suggested, he was a committed and active Soviet intelligence cadre. By reappraising Petrov, the article seeks to provide a fresh understanding of this key episode, the Petrov Affair, in Australia's Cold War history.

This article explores the place of individuals, ideologies and personal and political networks in shaping the larger political landscape in revolutionary Russia. The shape and culture of the Socialist Revolutionary Party (psr) will be at the heart of my anal- ysis of coalition politics. I focus particularly on the personal and political networks surrounding Vladimir Mikhailovich Zenzinov during 1917. This analysis suggests that the shape of coalition politics in 1917 was defined in part by pre-revolutionary social and political networks, and that these to some extent transcended party political affiliations. While the nature of coalition politics necessitated this political fluidity, it is nevertheless worth emphasizing, because the discourse around 1917 is often framed along explicitly party political lines.
