Der erste Schritt der OAU nach ihrer Gründung 1963 zur Befreiung des südlichen Afrika war der Abbruch der diplomatischen und konsularischen Beziehungen zwischen den afrikanischen Staaten und den Regierungen von Portugal und Südafrika. Der zweite Schritt bestand darin, die internationale Gemeinschaft in diese Isolationspolitik einzubinden, wobei die UNO als Forum diente. Die Rolle des 'Liberation Committee', einem OAU-Organ, bei der Befreiung des südlichen Afrikas. Das Verhalten der OAU bei der einseitigen Unabhängigkeitserklärung des Smith-Regimes 1965. (DÜI-Ott)
