At present, the world-economy is exceedingly fragile. Debt levels of nations peak. Monetary assets increase, too, and concentrate in the hands of few. In this paper, I show that a mechanism at the root of today's monetary system entails an inherently fragile economy. I simulate the consequences of this mechanism within a macroeconomic model. I motivate a new monetary system that gives money the role it should have: to facilitate complex interactions in a stable environment.

This paper investigates why financial market experts misperceive the interest rate policy of the European Central Bank (ECB). Assuming a Taylor-rule-type reaction function of the ECB, we use qualitative survey data on expectations about the future interest rate, inflation, and output to discover the sources of individual interest rate forecast errors. Based on a panel random coefficient model, we show that financial experts have systematically misperceived the ECB's interest rate rule. However, although experts tend to overestimate the impact of inflation on future interest rates, perceptions of monetary policy have become more accurate since clarification of the ECB's monetary policy strategy in May 2003. Lavinia Fontana (1552-1614) war die erste Frau, die den Beruf der Malerin professionell ausübte und sich bereits zu Lebzeiten eine beeindruckende Reputation erarbeitete. In den Quellen wird sie als "Pittora singolare tra le donne" bezeichnet und in der Tat konnte sie aufgrund ihrer zahlreichen Aufträge und Erfolge von der Kunst leben und ihre Familie ernähren, was im 16. Jahrhundert außergewöhnlich war. Auch ihr Œuvre ist ungewöhnlich umfangreich. Lavinia Fontana hinterließ ein Gesamtwerk von mehr als 100 Gemälden, das neben kleineren Devotionsbildern auch sakrale Historie in großformatigen Altarbildern sowie eine große Anzahl an Porträts und Bilder mit mythologischen Themen beinhaltet. Dies ist besonders hervorzuheben, weil sie sich am Ende des 16. Jahrhunderts in einer von Männern dominierten Kunstwelt durchsetzen musste. Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit Lavinia Fontana als Historienmalerin. Der Terminus ,Historie' beinhaltet demnach auch sakrale Historie. Kardinal Gabriele Paleotti, der Verfasser des Traktats Discorso intorno alle imagini sacre e profane und Verteidiger des Bilderdekrets von Trient, bezeichnete Lavinia als artefice cristiano. Damit beschrieb er treffend zumindest die Anfangsphase der Malkarriere Lavinia Fontanas, in der sie sich in einigen frühen Werken nach den Vorgaben Paleottis richtete. Der Schwerpunkt der Arbeit liegt auf der Darstellung der stilistischen Entwicklung Lavinias innerhalb ihres Gesamtwerkes, die anhand von Vorbildern und Vergleichen untermalt wird. Dies erscheint notwendig, da die Malerin in der Literatur oftmals auf ihre scheinbar bloße Umsetzung der tridentinischen Bestimmungen festgelegt, ihre eigentliche Weiterentwicklung, beziehungsweise die Entwicklung ihres unverwechselbaren Stils jedoch übersehen wird. Viele Bilder sind bisher nur unzulänglich erforscht. Die Dissertation befasst sich mit den Historienbildern Lavinias, die sakrale Historie mit einschließt. Ein umfangreicher Werkkatalog beschließt die Arbeit. ; Lavinia Fontana (1552-1614) acquired in her lifetime a great international reputation. She produced a large Œuvre of more than 100 paintings which included private devotional works, large scale altarpieces for churches, portraits of the Bolognese and Roman nobility and mythological subjects. It came into being from c. 1570 until her death in 1614. Her artistic career was influenced by several motives. Lavinia came of age as an artist at the time of political and religious changes. In her early pictures she was still influenced by the art of her father Prospero Fontana (1512-1597) who was one of the best known painters of his time in Bologna and he was an important figure of Bologna's artistic and cultural life because of his connections with politicians, artists, historians and the clergy among them Cardinal Gabriele Paleotti, Carlo Sigonio, Ulisse Aldrovandi and Achille Bocchi. Lavinia also joined this circle of the important and intellectual persons and strengthened her social rank. It was the time of the Counter-Reformation and the Tridentine reform. The decrees of the Council of Trent (1545-1563) on the subject of religious images created a new understanding and a guidance for many artists. But Cardinal Gabriele Paleotti felt that the decrees were not sufficient so in 1582 he published his treatise. Lavinia Fontana tried to add Paleottis' ideas in her early works. This paper examines Lavinia Fontana's paintings and her stylistic development within her Œuvre. One chapter shows the influence of the clients and the great commissions like the decoration in the Palazzo Magnani/Bologna together with the Carracci, the Cappella del Rosario in Bologna, the painting for S. Sabina/Rome and the late works for Cardinal Scipione Borghese. The last two chapters are focused on Lavinia's historical works and her stay in Rome after 1604. A catalogue lists the sacred paintings.
Zusammenfassung Das rechte Setzen des Fußes ist für den klassischen Hochseilartisten eine Frage des Überlebens. Fraglich ist, weshalb dieses rechte Setzen der Füße Zuschauer, Akteure, Kunst und Literatur fasziniert. Historische Belege und literarische Aufnahmen des Motivs finden sich von mittelalterlichen Messen und frühneuzeitlichen Festen bis hin zu Zirkusbeschreibungen des 18. und Stadtjubiläen des 20. Jhs, von Goethe bis zu Paul Auster. Aktuell nimmt der französische Artist und Autor Philippe Petit eine Sonderstellung ein. Die mögliche Zuordnung der Praxis zu einem Genre sowie Momente, die Faszination oder Ablehnung derselben hervorrufen können, werden in einem ersten Versuch beschrieben.
Eine effektive Kommunikation von Zentralbanken mit den Akteuren an Finanzmärkten soll sicher stellen, dass die Finanzmärkte die Zinspolitik der Zentralbanken nachvollziehen können. Dennoch sind Zinsprognosen nicht immer korrekt. Dieser Artikel geht auf zwei Ursachen von Unsicherheit ein, die dazu führen können, dass Finanzmarktexperten künftige Zinsentscheidungen der Europäischen Zentralbank nicht vollständig korrekt antizipieren.
