The federal minister for health outlines the basics of social democratic health policy. The concept originated with publicly regulated health insurance organizations, which are financed on a solidarity basis. Patients should no longer be regarded as objects of care but rather as active participants in their roles as patients & insured. This is the background for the author's presentation of activities in her department, which include the option for insured to change their insurance, improvements for chronically ill, & improved transparency, consultancy, & information. In the bills on quality of care & on flat rates for hospital care, information rights for patients have been guaranteed. Health insurance organizations have to support independent patient consultancy. Schmidt calls for more preventive measures & further empowerment of patients. Adapted from the source document.

; A Broad Alliance of Civil Society Organizations on Climate Change Mitigation: Political Strength or Legitimizing Support?
In: Nilsen , H , Strømsnes , K & Schmidt , U 2018 , ' A Broad Alliance of Civil Society Organizations on Climate Change Mitigation: Political Strength or Legitimizing Support? ' , Journal of Civil Society , vol. 14 , no. 1 , 1 , pp. 20-40 .

A broad alliance of civil society organizations on climate change mitigation: political Strength or legitimizing support?
One hundred and one very different organizations joined together prior to the election for the Norwegian parliament in 2013 in order to make climate change mitigation the most important issue in the election campaign. The alliance (CE2013) agreed on six political demands relating to mitigation. In this article, we categorize the 101 organizations and discuss their identity and objectives according to these demands. The analysis demonstrates that even though a broad variety of organizations joined the campaign, their commitment was rather weak. Few of the organizations justify their involvement in CE2013 by all six political demands, hence demonstrating that climate change mitigation is a valence issue. ; publishedVersion
