AbstractPreparation to draw the roadmap for the post‐pandemic world has already begun. Different power centers, leading research institutes, universities, and media houses have been organizing seminars and conferences and sponsoring research studies on the power and resourcefulness of the new world order to meet the challenges of the arriving future. In this context, the traditional approach focuses on the future of US‐China relations after COVID‐19 and its impact on the world at large. However, the world has undergone a sea change. Everything has been unsettled by COVID‐19. The credibility of the great powers has suffered enormously from their inability to save the world from capitulation. Worse still, for the global population of over 7 billion, the world virtually became a global prison. It is therefore likely that the post‐pandemic world order will be significantly different from the past world orders, and that a number of the settled rules of the game will be challenged. Perhaps the time has arrived to study and discuss the current and emerging threats, keeping in view the deadly consequences of ignoring the ideas of mass destruction any longer—and to devise strategies to diminish their role in the making and unmaking of world orders. It seems that the role of peace educators and scholars in the post‐pandemic period will be more significant than ever before, and the arriving world order will immensely benefit from new knowledge, new ideas, and new perspectives that they offer.

This article discusses the need for an international acknowledgement of the great number of internally displaced persons in the country of Pakistan. The article gives an overview of the recent history of Pakistan & how it has led to a growing number of internally displaced persons. The article discusses how all the various armed conflicts involving Pakistan have consistently resulted in a great number of internally displaced persons. The article points out that an increasing number of IDPs will exist if measures are not taken at the present time to prevent it. E. Miller

Discusses reasons for violence in the culture, the historical legacy for a culture of peace, and the role of religion in peace and nonviolence; India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka.

Assesses the potential of a return of peace to the South Asian region, which is characterized by ethnic, political, & religious violence & hatred. It is argued that the element of peace can be found in the cultural traditions of South Asia & its historical tolerance for cultural differences & exchanges. This is seen in the pacifism of emperor Asoka (276-236 BCE) of the Mauryan Empire, who renounced war & organized humanitarian peace missions, the central role of women in past South Asian societies, & the tolerance, peace, & humanism of the region's major religions. It is shown how postcolonial governments in India & Pakistan have denied women this role & broken with the tradition of Hindu-Muslim cooperation, nonviolent struggle against oppression, & support for self-determination. It is concluded that, by understanding the peace role of major religions & returning to these traditions, violence in the region could be significantly reduced. T. Arnold
