Diversidad constitutiva Ye'kwana
Constitutive Diversity among the Ye'kwanaAbstract. The Ye'kwana is a group of Carib linguistic affiliation inhabiting the southern border region between Venezuela and Brazil. This seemingly monolithic group donot have clans or descent groups. One of the few elements that betray their nativediversity is the existence of regional dialect groups (Silva Monterrey 2010). An analysisof these associative units raises what appears to be the amalgamation of constitutivemissing identities.Through historical analysis, oral tradition and memory of filiation, constitutive diversity of the group will be presented. This originary diversity is manifested in language, customs, and political tension that struggles between the horizontality own Caribbeangroups and verticality typical Arawak settlements. The underlying hypothesis is that the complexity of ethnic identities is due to thefact that current Indians are survivors of a demographic meltdown process and thatbeing the last of each culture they have absorbed members of different groups as asurvival strategy.
