PurposeThe study aims to investigate the firm reaction to external pressures and the subsequent transformation to green innovation (GI) and sustainability, leading to an enhanced circular supply chain performance. The research examined the effect of coercive, normative and mimetic pressures on GI within the Indian tire industry context.Design/methodology/approachThe authors have designed a self-administered questionnaire and received 283 responses. Nonresponse bias analysis was conducted first before proceeding to other assumptions such as constant variance and normality. The confirmatory factor analysis was used to check the data's integrity and reliability. The PLS-structural equation modeling (SEM) is used to validate the constructs and test the established hypotheses.FindingsExternal regulatory pressures significantly impact the tire industry's move towards GI. Normative pressures from societal expectations and industry standards, along with mimetic pressures where companies emulate best practices, both drive the industry toward sustainable initiatives. Further, a clear positive relationship emerges between GI and sustainable supply chain practices (SSCP). This shift emphasizes recycling, reusing and reducing waste and showcases the industry's commitment to minimizing its environmental impact.Originality/valueUnlike existing literature that predominantly explores SSCP, the study introduces an integrated framework that intertwines institutional pressures (IP), green innovation (GI), and SSCP to elevate circular supply chain practices (CSCP). The current study highlights the relationships and practical implications within the Indian tire industry.

PurposeThe main aim of this study is to explore the relationship between information system flexibility and dynamic capabilities to build sustainable and net zero supply chains under the influence of environmental dynamism.Design/methodology/approachWe have formulated a self-administered survey, with 359 participants contributing responses. Prior to delving into foundational assumptions, such as homoscedasticity and normality, a nonresponse bias analysis was executed. The integrity of the data, in terms of reliability and construct validity, was gauged using confirmatory factor analysis. Subsequent regression outputs corroborated all the proposed assumptions, fortifying the extant scholarly literature.FindingsThe empirical findings of this research underscore a positive correlation between Information system flexibility, dynamic capabilities and a net zero supply chain, especially in the context of environmental dynamism. Data sourced from the cement manufacturing sector support these observations. We also found that environmental dynamism moderates the relationship between data analytics capability and sustainable supply chain flexibility but does not moderate the relationship between Resource flexibility and sustainable supply chain flexibility. Additionally, this research strengthens the foundational principles of the dynamic capability theory.Originality/valueThe conceptual framework elucidates the interplay between information system flexibility, dynamic capabilities, and sustainable supply chain flexibility, emphasizing their collective contribution towards achieving sustainable chain net zero, introducing environmental dynamics as a moderating variable that augments the scholarly discourse with a nuanced layer of analytical depth.

PurposeIn the uncertain business environment, the supply chains are under pressure to balance routine operations and prepare for adverse events. Consequently, this research investigates how artificial intelligence is used to enable resilience among supply chains.Design/methodology/approachThis study first analyzed the relationship among different characteristics of AI-enabled supply chain and how these elements take it towards resilience by collecting the responses from 27 supply chain professionals. Furthermore, to validate the results, an empirical analysis is conducted where the responses from 231 supply chain professionals are collected.FindingsFindings indicate that the disruption impact of an event depends on the degree of transparency kept and provided to all supply chain partners. This is further validated through empirical study, where the impact of transparency facilitates the mass customization of the procurement strategy to Last Mile Delivery to reduce the impact of disruption. Hence, AI facilitates resilience in the supply chain.Originality/valueThis study adds to the domain of supply chain and information systems management by identifying the driving and dependent elements that AI facilitates and further validating the findings and structure of the elements through empirical analysis. The research also provides meaningful implications for theory and practice.

Business education is growing in popularity, resulting into greater responsibility for us as educators shaping the future leaders of the World. The current research makes an attempt to answer an emphatic impudent question facing all B‐school educators—How do we humanize future business leaders to avoid leadership failures. The researchers feel the solution lies in traditional but powerful model of Service learning experience. The outcome of Service learning experience is measured with vast empirical survey carried out with two‐stage sampling with 270 target responses considering seven variables in the proposed hypothetical model. DEMATEL analysis has been used to build Nature and intensity and Threshold matrix and a model depicting Causality. EFA and CFA were carried out to understand the suitability of the proposed model. Finally, hypotheses were tested using hierarchical regression analysis. DEMATEL analysis reveals Self‐efficacy (SE) and Civic participation (CP) as dimensions having the highest degree of relationship with other dimensions, and the highest impacted dimension is attitude to help others. Moreover, inter‐mediation influence is also the highest among SE and CP as per resultant model built. Hierarchical regression analysis reveals all hypotheses in proposed model are accepted at 95% level of confidence. The objective of measuring traditionally discussed outcomes like attitude toward helping others, self‐efficacy toward service, civic participation has been balanced with untraditionally discussed issues like Business educations role in addressing social issues, linkage with real world, business and career development, and projected future behaviors like continuing community services.

PurposeThe technology used by an organization is significantly influenced by the organization's preferred competitive capabilities. The Internet of things (IoT) is an important technology, which is implemented by most prominent business organizations. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between an organization's strategies and the IoT architectures implemented by the organization.Design/methodology/approachThis study has been carried out on primary data collected with the help of a structured questionnaire. The data have been analyzed by statistical techniques like cluster analysis and discriminant analysis through SPSS.FindingsThe empirical investigation of data revealed that there is a relationship between organizational strategy and IoT architectures. The three-layered architecture of the IoT is most suitable for caretakers; the three-, four- or five- layered architectures are suitable for marketeers; whereas innovators find it more suitable to use five- or more-layered architecture of the IoT. This paper draws the conclusion based on maximum likelihood rather than using statistical analyses like ANOVA. The idea behind using the maximum likelihood estimate is that there are many subjective parameters in deciding the architectures of the IoT. These subjective parameters are difficult to quantify, so it is not possible to apply ANOVA on these parameters.Research limitations/implicationsThis study considers three organizational strategies; the relationship between other organizational strategies and IoT architecture will be studied in future.Practical implicationsThis study offers multiple opportunities to practitioners and consulting firms of the IoT to adopt a suitable IoT architecture according to the organizational strategy. This study equips IoT development engineers to select suitable technology for data capturing, data transmission, and data management and access for an IoT architecture.Originality/valueAlthough a lot of work has already been done on the architecture of IoT for different industries and businesses, to the best of our knowledge, this is the first study that relates organizational strategies to IoT architectures. This study applies to all the major industry types.

Purpose The food supply chain has faced many challenges due to its complex and complicated nature. Blockchain technology is one of the mechanisms used to improve agri-food supply chain processes by evolving organization capabilities. A study is being conducted to scrutinize the adoption of blockchain technology in the agri-food supply chain through the lens of the operational capability approach. It further makes an attempt to identify the capabilities of blockchain to improve supply chain processes.Design/methodology/approach The qualitative research method with semi-structured interviews was used to gather information from experts and professionals in the food supply chain and blockchain technology. The authors have adopted a systematic approach of coding using open, axial and selective methods to depict and identify the themes that represent the blockchain-enabled agri-food supply chain. The data were collected from 32 interviews of selected participants.Findings The result shows five critical areas where blockchain can come up to enhance the agri-food supply chain performance by providing traceability, transparency, information security, transactions, and trust and quality. Further, the study reveals that blockchain will provide safety, lower the cost of transactions and can create trust among users to communicate within the whole supply chain without the intervention of a third party. This study demonstrated that the capabilities need to be considered when introducing technology into the practice.Research limitations/implications The study implies thought-provoking implications for bridging the theory-practice gap by examining the empirical data to demonstrate how the operational capabilities of blockchain technology further strengthen the agri-food supply chain. Additionally, this study provides some suggestions for utilizing the results and proposes a framework to understand more about blockchain use cases in the agri-food supply chain as well as extend the application of blockchain using an operational capability approach for future academic researchers in this area.Practical implicationsThis study presented some more important managerial implications which reveal that the majority of organisations were in the initial stages of adoption process of blockchain technology. Further, the positive influence of managers and IT experts can help the information technology companies (IT) and stakeholders for developing and promoting blockchain solutions in the agri-food supply chain. The important implication of blockchain enabled agri-food supply chain is to maintain information security and incresae supply chain performance. Originality/value The study shows the operational capabilities of agri-food supply chain using blockchain technology. Blockchain can contribute in enhancing the agri-food supply chain to increase traceability and transparency and helps to reduce the risk of disruptions.

PurposeBlockchain technology can overcome many complicated problems related to confidentiality, integrity and availability of fast and secure distributed systems in the agri-food supply chain. In emerging economies like India, blockchain application in the agri-food supply chain is still new, and their adoption is underdeveloped. This paper aims to investigate the drivers of blockchain technology adoption and their effect on the behavioral intention of stakeholders in adopting blockchain technology among various stakeholders in the agri-food supply chain. The study also develops a framework to enhance understanding of blockchain adoption in the agri-food supply chain as well as the stakeholders' motivation in seeking blockchain solutions.Design/methodology/approachConsidering the most significant aspects of blockchain adoption in the agri-food supply chain, this study attempts to develop an adoption model by using the extended unified theory of acceptance and technology model with interfirm trust and transparency as additional factors. Data was collected from a sample of 200 stakeholders in the North Indian state of Punjab. The empirical analysis was carried out using structural equation modeling in Smart PLS3.FindingsThe findings supported the developed framework and the results of SEM indicate that all the paths are supported. In particular, the findings of the study reveal that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, interfirm trust and transparency are the drivers of blockchain adoption and have a significant impact on the behavioral intention of stakeholders. Cumulatively, the results positively impact the performance of agri-food supply chain. From this study, it is found that the adoption of blockchain technology in agri-food supply chain enhances their performance.Originality/valueThe originality of the study lies in the developed framework, technology adoption will help them focus in the right direction by eliminating manual methods and converting the agri-food supply chain into a digitalization system.

Social media has played a pivotal role in polarising views on politics, climate change, and more recently, the Covid-19 pandemic. Social media induced polarisation (SMIP) poses serious challenges to society as it could enable 'digital wildfires' that can wreak havoc worldwide. While the effects of SMIP have been extensively studied, there is limited understanding of the interplay between two key components of this phenomenon: confirmation bias (reinforcing one's attitudes and beliefs) and echo chambers (i.e., hear their own voice). This paper addresses this knowledge deficit by exploring how manifestations of confirmation bias contributed to the development of 'echo chambers' at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Thematic analysis of data collected from 35 participants involved in supply chain information processing forms the basis of a conceptual model of SMIP and four key cross-cutting propositions emerging from the data that have implications for research and practice.

In a democratic country like India, citizens expect quality public services, from the government. The information technology‐enabled versions of public services cannot be an exception. In order to develop strategies leading to increasing levels of satisfaction of the citizens, the quality of the services should be analyzed. For efficient and effective public service delivery, many countries all over the world attempt to develop the transparent and accountable online system to bring the citizen's faith in governance. The present study attempts to check that does the e‐service quality of the online grievance redress portal satisfy the student users. Dimensions and construct of the proposed model were extracted from literature, a survey was conducted by employing a questionnaire, soliciting inputs from 677 respondents. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS‐SEM) modeling was used to drive the results. Results indicates that security and privacy, is the utmost significant dimensions for student satisfaction as it helps to develop trust in the online e‐governance system to bring satisfaction that increases the usage of the grievance portal It is followed by reliability and delivery of quality of information. The demographic variable, gender observed to be not having a significant relationship with the students' satisfaction concerning e‐government services. The limitations and future research scope of the study are also presented.

Rajasthan was one of the foremost affected state bearing the frontal attack likewise geographicaly extensive states MP &Gujrat. Making indespensable for converting information into evidence for timely identification of causal drivers &revising strategies in pandemic inferno. Objective:To sketch out the mortality profile with respect to demographic and clinical progression with an aim to identify the groups,this virus conspicuously pickedup with a perspective to control some of the avoidable factors.Methods:We analyzed the epidemiological data in 56 RT-PCR confirmed deaths of COVID 19 patients who were brought dead that occurred between 1stApril 2020 and 31stJuly 2020 over a period of 120 days throughout Rajasthan by community surveys . A 3 member team of sector health workers(ASHA/ANM/Medical officer ) were constituted for verbal autopsy of deceased kith/kin after informed consent & 3 weeks after death . A written format for detail discussion with family members was pre hand given which later culminated into a single page dossier for identification of level of delays that lead to a death & actionable points from team itself. These delays were classified into 6 broad categories i.e L1-Delay in seeking health care , L2-delay in availing transport facility, L3- Delay in getting optimum treatment , No Delay,Non COVID Death & cause unknown .Later inspired by the positive feedback impact government facility death review mechanism was also institutionalized steerheaded by medical education department to enrich the available knowledge of prevention & treatment. Results:Atotal of 650 patients died during four months period from 2 March to 5 July out of which 56 brought dead mortality cases presenting with COVID (+) post expiry were analyzed. 26 deaths occurred in the 30-60 years of age group. The mean age being 46.48 years. Males had a marginally increased mortality rate (F: M-1:1.43). The mean time of onset of symptoms to hospitalization was 7.8 days. Thirty Nine (71%) patients were from urban areas, whereas 7(13%) belonged to rural areas.Only 23.52 % patients presented within 24 - 48 hours whereas 33% presented within aday of onset of symptoms& 25.49 % presented within 4-7 days wheras 17.64% had no symptoms .On economic status front 84% belonged to Non Below Poverty line (NBPL) & rest were BPL .Educational status was 34% were 5th pass,23% uneducated ,20 % 8th pass & rest 11 % were 10th pass & graduate.77% deaths were without any associated cause of death. Based on initial rounds of facility level reviews 66.9% succumbed within 5 days of hospitalization, despite starting for hospital in advance .56.86% had predisposing risk factors. Conclusion: On the way/home mortality of 8.06% was found out of total some 694 (April-July-20) which was low as house to house survey conducted &community awareness campaigns thru health worker helped in sensitization of general public . As acorollary of this analysis the authors are of the opinion that a rejig of the existing guidelines to identify and treat influenza like illness be made available at the national level. What factors promote rapid progression especially in a group without any predisposing risk condition should form the focus of future studies. As risk group individuals formed a major chunk of deaths, the need to vaccinate this group should form a scaffold on which future directions and interventions have to be builtup to combat the morbidity and mortality
