The significance of the issue lies in the observation that the experience of implementing neoliberal market reforms during the 1990s in Ukraine reveals that disregarding the contributions of Ukrainian scholars led to detrimental consequences for socio-economic transformations. This study focuses on the theories of social change developed by Ukrainian scholars. The aim of this article is to consolidate and structure the concepts put forth by Ukrainian scholars that contribute to the theory of social change within post-Soviet Ukrainian society. The methodology employed to examine the theory of social change in the context of post-Soviet Ukrainian society encompasses systematic, logical, historical, dialectical, and civilizational approaches and techniques. The findings of the research indicate that the theory of social change necessitates an interdisciplinary methodology. The primary criterion for evaluating the nature of social change is its orientation toward upholding societal cohesion. The emergence of crisis phenomena that present challenges to society serves as an indicator of social change. An essential element in understanding social change is an awareness of the socio-cultural distinctiveness of a given society. Effective management of social processes relies on the integration of theoretical principles with practical applications. Several domains have emerged in the evolution of the theory of social change within post-Soviet Ukrainian society, including economic, demographic, civilizational, political, and security-oriented aspects. An analysis of indigenous concepts of social change within post-Soviet Ukrainian society highlights certain characteristics. Ukrainian social researchers consistently grapple with the task of constructing a comprehensive perspective on Ukrainian society. Amidst the multitude of social changes, a central issue pertaining to various concepts of social change has gradually arisen—the examination of the trajectory that society follows. Notably, a significant portion of scholars, predominantly economists, have regarded the economy as the primary determinant shaping the nature of social change. The practical significance of these findings resides in the synthesis and organization of the concepts formulated by Ukrainian scholars, which contribute to the framework of the theory of social change in the context of post-Soviet Ukrainian society.

The article delves into an examination of pivotal state-building initiatives that have significantly shaped societal trajectories. The clash between the February project (Provisional Government) and the October project (Soviets) emerged as a decisive determinant in steering the socio-political course within the former Russian Empire in 1917. The confrontation between the anti-Soviet endeavor and the Soviet undertaking ultimately contributed to the demise of the USSR and the Soviet system. In the contemporary context of swift social dynamics and emerging threats, safeguarding the stability and coherence of societies and nations necessitates the formulation of a novel realm of social understanding. This is proposed to be encompassed under the scholarly discipline of "Theory of Fate Analytics of Societies, Peoples, and States."

On the thirtieth commemoration of Ukraine's independence, the present condition of the country highlights the necessity of contemplating the historical trajectory that post-Soviet Ukrainian society has traversed. This is not merely a retrospective consideration encompassing the past and present, but also, perhaps more crucially, a forward-looking assessment of Ukraine's future. While Ukraine exhibited a sense of cohesion and significant societal integration shortly after declaring independence, as evidenced by the outcomes of the All-Ukrainian referendum conducted on December 1, 1991, the year 2021 reveals a notable departure from these characteristics (State Archival Service of Ukraine, 2013). Present-day post-Soviet Ukrainian society has become fragmented, marked by discernible social fault lines. As Samuel Huntington (1996) observes, Ukraine is a nation divided along cultural lines, with two distinct civilizations. The fault line between these civilizations, demarcating the West from Orthodoxy, has bisected the nation for centuries (Huntington, 1996). Over the post-Soviet era, Ukraine has experienced a profound transformation in the role of the state, which has rapidly diminished in its capacity to effectively manage the fundamental pillars supporting society. Throughout this period, Ukrainian society has grappled with an enduring systemic crisis. The erstwhile Soviet framework of existence in Ukraine was dismantled, yet efforts to establish a novel system predicated on principles like market economy, human rights, and democracy have encountered significant challenges. While the contemporary Ukrainian society may project an appearance of stability, it conceals vulnerabilities to the deleterious trends stemming from its transformation, which are driven by three primary factors: the state, business entities, and criminal elements.

Social management of the livelihoods of people, social groups, and nations has experienced dramatic changes in recent decades. In a number of countries, particularly in the post-Soviet republics, the habitual stable social order has been gradually replaced by social chaos, characterized by disintegration and conflicts. The nature of these social transformations was characterized by S. Huntington (1996) in his famous book 'The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order.' The author of the study declares, the core idea is that in the post-Cold War world, culture and the recognition of different cultural identities (that in the broadest sense coincides with the identity of civilization) determine the patterns of cohesion, disintegration and conflict. The researcher argues that in the new world the most large-scale, important and dangerous conflicts are not to arise between social classes, the poor and the rich, but between nations of different cultural identities (Huntington, 1996). Comprehension of the distinctions existing in cultural identities as the primary source of future social conflicts actualizes the problem of the subcultures' role in the processes of social management. The mentioned problem is poorly studied in general, yet it attracts considerable attention to the possibility of the latent structures taking advantage of various subcultures to influence the processes of social management. The purpose of the article is to substantiate the role of subcultures in the processes of latent social management.
