In National and State Identity in Turkey: The Transformation of the Republic's Status in the International System, Toni Alaranta examines the impact that the Justice and Development Party (AKP) has had on various strands of Turkish national identity since coming to power in 2002. Although Megan Smith highlights some structural oversimplifications in the book, she nonetheless positions Alaranta's study as a rich and valuable account of contemporary Turkish identity politics.

The manifold collections of Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian avant-garde publications in the New York Public and Columbia University Libraries are as impressive in their breadth as they are significant in their history. They have become more than a singular research resource for Slavicists, and more than a telling record of the striking inventiveness that occurred in Eastern Europe early in the last century. Indeed, these rich holdings are essential for today's scholars and for an ever-growing public keenly interested in the art, culture, and political history of Eastern and East-Central Europe during a period of dramatic and revolutionary change. Nonetheless, it is through the visual and literary history that the two collections document that one might best appreciate these holdings' broadest value.

AbstractBackgroundPeople with intellectual disabilities are more likely to experience poor health than the general population and are frequently prescribed multiple medications. Therefore, it is important that people with intellectual disabilities understand their medication and potential adverse effects.MethodA scoping review explored people with intellectual disabilities' knowledge of prescription medications, their risks and how medication understanding can be improved.ResultsTen journal articles were included. People with intellectual disabilities often lacked understanding of their medication, including its name, purpose and when and how to take it. Participants were often confused or unaware of adverse effects associated with their medication. Information was sometimes explained to carers rather than people with intellectual disabilities. Some interventions and accessible information helped to improve knowledge in people with intellectual disabilities.ConclusionThere is a need for accessible and tailored information about medication to be discussed with people with intellectual disabilities in order to meet legal and best practice standards.
